Power Shortfalls: NERC orders compensation for Band A customers

Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission has directed Distribution Companies (DisCos) to pay special compensation to eligible Band A customers affected by significant power supply shortfalls between February and March 2026.

In a directive tagged NERC/2026/002, the Commission said many Band A feeders failed to meet the required service standards due to gas supply shortages and vandalism affecting gas and transmission infrastructure—challenges it noted were beyond the control of DisCos.
