The realization that at Mortgage Rates in the 3% to 5% range ordinary people couldn't make the payments
And the free fall began
What went up 70% in 30 months could simply revert to mean
That's all it was
And unbelievably in hindsight: the assumption was this would simply continue.... well.... forever
Sound familiar NASDAQ?
Naturally once Mortgage Rates normalized a moment came when someone said: why is this POS shack selling for $1M
That's all it took

We Are Seeing Some Houses Lose 50% Of Their Value Since 2022: How Did It Go So WRONG?
- Because these same houses INCREASED in value 50% to 70% between 2020 & 2022
- Because Mortgage Rates went to 1.59%
- Because wrong beliefs about true values HAPPEN frequently

Can a smartwatch detect signs of heart failure?
A UHN‑led study published in @NatureMedicine found that smartwatch data can flag worsening heart failure risk before unplanned care is needed, opening the door to earlier treatment.

Scotland has become the first country in the world to make tampons, sanitary pads, and other period products completely free for anyone who needs them.
Under the law, schools, colleges, and public facilities must provide these essentials at no cost, helping ensure that no one has to struggle to access basic hygiene products.
A huge step forward for health, dignity, and equality , and many hope more countries will follow Scotland’s lead.
Toronto condos and high-end homes fell more than 50% between 1989 and 1996. I remember it clearly.
This time, the decline should be by 75%. At the true bottom, it would not surprise me if condos trade at 10 cents on the dollar relative to the 2022 peak.

When People Buy Less Groceries You Know Things Are Getting Really BAD
Because that's where we are in this country today
Inflation in general is under control but the key things that effect the lives of average to low income Canadians are a disaster

Healthcare in Canada in a nutshell:
- patient of mine has severe uterine fibroids causing significant bleeding, needs surgery, gynecologist agrees but can’t get her an OR slot
- has had to visit the ER a half dozen times, for blood and iron transfusions, now has a hematologist as well
Instead of opening OR time the ON government restricts OR use, which leads to massive costs and disability.
Fixing a problem immediately saves taxpayers money. Delaying care costs the system and patient immensely. A $1500 surgery to fix this will now cost $10-15k due to delays. Only a fully public system is so myopic that they cannot understand the utility in fixing issues as they arise. In their goal to minimize OR costs they push extra costs and wait times everywhere else in the system.

It’s important that you understand what happened last night.
Last night, Stephen Colbert interviewed Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico, a candidate who, by all accounts, is on track in the polls to flip Texas blue.
In response, Trump’s FCC reportedly threatened CBS if the interview aired.
CBS caved and pulled the segment, citing “financial reasons.”
In modern American history, no president has been more hostile to free speech than Donald Trump.
But censorship always backfires.
Here’s the full segment Trump didn’t want you to see.
“Can I bring my baby to the interview?”
The message came in at 11 PM:
“Hi, I have an interview with you tomorrow at 2 PM. My childcare fell through. Can I bring my 8-month-old? I understand if you need to reschedule.”
Old me would have rescheduled.
Unprofessional. Distraction. Red flag.
New me replied:
“Absolutely. See you tomorrow.”
She showed up with her baby on her hip.
She apologized three times before even sitting down.
Ten minutes in, the baby started crying.
She tried to soothe him while answering questions.
She apologized again.
I stopped the interview and said:
“Hey. You’re managing a fussy baby, answering complex questions, and staying calm under pressure. That’s literally the job. Handling chaos while staying professional. You’re already proving you can do it.”
Her eyes filled with tears.
We hired her.
She’s been with us for a year now.
The most reliable team member we have.
Why?
Because when you’re used to handling a screaming infant at 3 AM and still showing up to work the next day, workplace stress feels like nothing.
Working parents, especially mothers, are some of the most organized, efficient, and resilient people you’ll ever hire.
Yet we lose them because our hiring processes are built for people with zero caregiving responsibilities.
If your interview process can’t accommodate a parent facing a childcare issue, you’re not filtering for professionalism.
You’re filtering for privilege.
A statement from the family of Alex Pretti, obtained by CNN:
"We are heartbroken but also very angry.
Alex was a kindhearted soul who cared deeply for his family and friends and also the American veterans whom he cared for as an ICU nurse at the Minneapolis VA hospital. Alex wanted to make a difference in this world. Unfortunately he will not be with us to see his impact. I do not throw around the hero term lightly. However his last thought and act was to protect a woman.
The sickening lies told about our son by the administration are reprehensible and disgusting. Alex is clearly not holding a gun when attacked by Trump’s murdering and cowardly ICE thugs. He has his phone in his right hand and his empty left hand is raised above his head while trying to protect the woman ICE just pushed down all while being pepper sprayed.
Please get the truth out about our son. He was a good man. Thank you."
⚡️🇪🇸🇺🇸JUST IN: Spain’s PM Pedro Sanchez:
After much reflection, Spain has decided not to participate in the so-called Board of Peace.
We thank them for the invitation, but we decline.
This board is outside the United Nations framework. It does not include the Palestinian Authority.
The future of Gaza and the West Bank must be decided by Palestinians.
Spain has tripled its defense spending since I became prime minister. We are investing €34 billion a year in defense.
At the same time, we will not renounce public healthcare, public education, social cohesion, or development aid.
Security is not only weapons.
Security is scholarships for our children. Security is public hospitals for our elderly.
