The sahaja state is the state where you maintain that certainty or deep-rooted conviction that you never leave your real nature of Consciousness and Peace.
~ Menon
A mirage or a rainbow is only an effect which appears due to combination of many factors. So is the sense of ' I am' .
Both are not real but an illusion.
You can never be free because there is no bondage in the first place.
You create left when you say right.
This is all in relativity, in reality there is no left or right, bondage or freedom.
@OmniSiddha What is indirectly said as "annihilation of the ego mind" is directly said as "there is no 'you'".
But both are words having no meaning, as there is no 'one' to understand this.
'Presence', 'Awareness', 'Self ', 'Atman', ' Parmatma', 'Brahman', 'wholeness' ' Source' ' God' , 'This', 'It' points to 'That' which cannot be described by any words as 'It' is beyond any description.
Truth is one, but can be told in infinite ways.
There is no path to seek truth but all the path leads to truth.
The above statements appear contradictory because truth is neither this or that.
Q: Why this world is called a dream?
A: This world is neither real nor unreal.
A dreamer makes it real and this dreamer is totally fake.
In the absence of a dreamer, who is there to call it real or unreal.
This is what it is

You, Self, were never born, nor did you ever die. The body was never yours.
The ancient scriptures have repeatedly affirmed: “This is all Brahman”
Avadhuta Gita
When you say 'left' you create 'right', in reality there is neither left or right.
When you say 'known ' you create 'unknown', in reality there is neither known or unknown.
All are creation of mind, there is neither 'real' or 'unreal'.
You cannot say 'I know THAT' because whatever is said is by the use of instruments i.e. body, mind.
You cannot say 'I don't know THAT' because whatever is said is due to THAT.
You may have read these two statements:
i) all there is Self
ii) there is no Self
They may appear contradictory to one other as they literally means different. But both these statements points to the same reality.
Reality is beyond words yet words are needed to point to it.
Self-remembrance, awareness of “I am’ ripens man powerfully and speedily. Give up all ideas about yourself and simply be. Stop making use of your mind and see what happens. Do this one thing thoroughly. That is all.
