So trade union activism is now a conspiracy? Workers and trade unionists speaking up is part of their fundamental right to freedom of speech and expression and to form associations or unions. Speaking up against exploitation cannot be criminalised in this fashion.
ANI Editor Smita Prakash arrived as chief guest for a scheduled event at Miranda College in Delhi, only to find the venue completely deserted. Neither faculty nor organisers turned up.
When 9/11 happened, Iran was one of the first countries that condemned the terror attack. It even helped the Americans in the war against Qaeda/Taliban. Bush returned the favour by calling Iran, along with Iraq and North Korea, as an axis of evil. That was a warning sign. The North Koreans, who had the institutional memory of the devastating American bombing of 1950-53, moved swiftly to make a bomb. I would say they were smart. The Iranians chose not to make one. They thought the axis would give them deterrence while an advanced nuclear programme would provide them diplomatic cards. Khamenei even issued a fatwa against the bomb!
In 2015, they signed a deal, agreeing to limit the nuclear programme. They were fully compliant with the terms of the agreement. Trump returned the favour by tearing the deal apart in 2018. The rest is history.
I wrote this in June 2025: In a treacherous world like ours, nuclear weapons are the ultimate deterrent. If you make a bomb, make it, don't talk. Iran is being bombed not because it wants to make a bomb, but because it did not make one. It's too early to make predictions about which way the war is headed, but this one will have far-reaching consequences in West Asia. This is far bigger than the June war.
Tried to dig deeper. This is what I found.

It's horrible the way Anjali is being harassed and assaulted. She's not just being targeted for her caste identity but also as a woman, and a woman with a voice.
So proud to say that this was my student, Ive taught her and she's a really bright spark. Stay strong, Anjali. In solidarity 🫡💪🏻

Brahmanwaad Zindabad slogans raised by a mob of ABVP Goons outside Maurice Nagar Police Station! We protested at Arts Faculty, DU, in support of UGC GUIDELINES which they clearly did not like! They hit many students present! Many are still inside Police Station unable to come out
Absolutely atrocious that @irfhabib saab was attacked today for just speaking his mind. And this is in the heart of Delhi University. It's not easy for historians who go out there and freely advocate the cause for Indian history and education, brave of Irfan saab to continue his speech undeterred despite the attack 🫡
The CPI strongly condemns the attack on Prot. S. Irfan Habib while he was speaking at a public event in Delhi University. @irfhabib
This is not disagreement or debate, this is cowardly intimidation. Ideas must be fought with ideas, not with violence, threats or hooliganism. Such acts expose the deep insecurity of right-wing forces who fear free thinking and open discussion.
Because of their narrow and intolerant ideology, university spaces across the country are being turned hostile and inward-looking, where questioning and critical thought are attacked. There is no place for violence or intimidation in academic and public life.
We stand in complete solidarity with Prof. S. Irfan Habib and reaffirm that the free flow of ideas is essential for democracy and cannot be silenced.

A joint investigation team from CPI-(ML), AICCTU, AISA, AIPWA, and AILAJ reached Delhi's Turkman Gate today to inquire into the large-scale arrests following demolitions in the area.
The fact-finding team met with the residents of Turkman Gate and the families affected by this action. During conversations with local residents, it was revealed that this bulldozer action, carried out under police protection, was conducted at 2 AM.
The locals also stated that people from all communities have always lived together peacefully and amicably here, but now attempts are being made to spoil this atmosphere. Using one incident as an excuse, many innocents are being targeted. Many such people, who earn their livelihood through hard work and labor, are being illegally taken from their homes. Minors, boys, girls, women, and innocent family members are being arbitrarily harassed.
A detailed report will be released soon by the fact-finding team.
