It is July 1st and rent is due. Millions of renters can't pay. These local NYC activists recently took to the streets to show solidarity with struggling communities and demand that Governor Cuomo #cancelrent.

One of the most sustained Top Gun critiques came from Chip Lord, a member of the collective Ant Farm, who produced a half-hour video essay in 1987 for grassroots media activist organization @papertigertv -

Photos from this morning. Over a dozen tenant activists were arrested by the police today, after shutting down eviction court and the surrounding roadways to demand the cancelling of all evictions. ✊

Tenants shut down housing court this morning to demand an end to evictions, and housing for all! Evictions will not proceed in this city.

LIVE: Tenants in NYC are standing up to demand a permanent eviction moratorium.
In a city as abundant in housing as NYC, there is no reason why anyone should be homeless or housing insecure.

Andrew Yang's version of UBI is the worse possible kind of UBI you could think of.
- Just $2K for *the whole year*
- To only half a million people (in a city of 8-9 million people)
- & he wants to pay for it by cutting social programs but he won't even touch the NYPD's budget!
Students in NYC walked out of class & marched from Washington Square Park to Foley Square today to demand that cops stop harassing, brutalizing, & killing young people like #MakhiaBryant, #DaunteWright, #ChristianHall, & #AdamToledo. NYPD followed the march from a distance.
Tonight, a couple hundred people gathered at Grand Army Plaza in Brooklyn to bear witness for Daunte Wright and call for justice in his name. The group then took the street and marched down Flatbush. A thread with photos and videos. 1/
Protesters marched in uptown NYC earlier today for #DaunteWright. Protesters tried to march on the George Washington Bridge but were met by a line of NYPD cops with batons. Protesters fearlessly broke through the 1st police line while chanting “You can’t stop the revolution!”
