Rahm Emanuel on Israel:
Support for Israel is plummeting around the world.
You've lost Europe, your biggest economic partner and market.
Your scientists face exclusion from international conferences and research networks. Your artists and academics are shut out of exhibits and meetings.
In 2022, 55% of Americans held a favorable view of Israel. Today, it is 37%, and it is dropping. And among the youth of both America and Europe, it's even lower.
The only diplomatic gain you've made in the last three years is Somaliland.
You lost America, you lost Europe, and you picked up Somaliland. Such a deal.
The smoking gun Instagram message right after the alleged incident? Can't be recovered.
There are FB messages, 2 yrs after the alleged incident, where Platner's ex-situationship tells a friend he's "consensually careless" when drunk.
What made her "super grossed out" though occurred after they stopped seeing each other, when she saw his online dating profile, from which she inferred he slept with a lot of other women.
Seems like the rest of this message exchange could be relevant but Politico ends it there.
Hey @NateSilver538, your Substack item on Platner leads with at least two egregious errors.
-- The POLITICO article contains no "corroborating" communications with the accuser's therapist -- as in anything remotely contemporaneous. The only communications referenced are described as "recent emails" -- apparently within just the last month, following the June 4 NYT article -- in which the accuser was "seeking help corroborating her account," and the therapist is described as replying "without referencing details of any particular incident." The only "corroboration" of any assault is the accuser herself using the shorthand "sa/rape" -- which is of course not corroboration. The therapist strangely refused to comment to POLITICO -- despite what we'd presume would be the accuser's authorization to do so -- and therefore did not "corroborate" anything. No communications from the therapist are cited that "corroborate" any assault or rape.
-- There is no communication "about an assault" in the 2023 Facebook messages the accuser is shown to have exchanged with a person you describe as a "friend," but who POLITICO describes as an "acquaintance." The most the accuser does is obliquely allude to Platner "at times" exhibiting what she describes as "consensual carelessness" -- which is a long way from corroborating any specific "assault" or "rape." In the same messages, the accuser also calls Platner "charming and funny," as well as "a decently intelligent person," and "not all bad." Which is probably not how you'd expect someone to characterize a perpetrator of "assault" or "rape" against them.
It's fine if you don't like Platner, and feel like your political warnings about his candidacy ought to be deemed vindicated. But in order to credibly make that case, you probably shouldn't egregiously misrepresent stuff in your opening paragraphs, since a good number of people will likely only read your (inaccurate) summary, and won't go to the source material.
We all know who’s behind the Platner attack & why (Israel). DNC’s pulling a Kamala 2.0 to replace him with a crypto-Zionist.
@grahamformaine should pick someone MORE anti-Israel. If DNC sabotages, don’t drop—burn the race like they burned the campaign. You hold the cards.
