As a hospital doctor for many years, I am absolutely shocked at what we feed our patients. I’ve worked in many different hospitals up and down the east coast of the USA. It’s all the same.

Let’s be honest: This unfortunately represents a wider societal ignorance of the importance of good nutrition.

The below could be a hospital breakfast given to diabetic patients ANYWHERE in America. I’ve seen these sorts breakfasts given to thousands of patients.

White processed bread, sugary processed muffin, and low quality orange juice.

One of the worst things that could happen to anybody who is already sick and inflamed, is to be fed food that causes metabolism, glucose, insulin— to go haywire!

This is an area that we must improve on. Think about it. Hippocrates knew it 2500 years ago.

Every cell in your body. Every thought that you have. Is powered by what you eat.

If doctors and hospitals can’t promote good wholesome nutrition when somebody is actively sick— then nobody can.

Hospitals must do better.

They say politics is a game of chess, but what I have just learned about Raila Odinga takes it to another level.

Baba never walked into agreements blindly. Behind every move, there were always two forces prepared. One was the calm side, the cooperation team. These were the leaders who appeared composed, ready to work with the government, to engage, to negotiate, and to keep things running smoothly. Many of them did not even know the full picture. Their role was simple, cooperate and serve.

But behind the scenes, there was another force. A stronger, louder, more aggressive wing. The militant side.

This was the team that stepped in when things went wrong, when agreements failed, when pressure was needed. They were not there to negotiate, they were there to push back, to take control of the situation and neutralize any threats to the movement.

Baba had already prepared Edwin Sifuna and Babu Owino for the exit strategy, and that is why they started pulling out even when Baba was alive. At the center of that force, they remained vocal, fearless, and always ready to take the fight head on when the moment demanded it.

It was a system of balance. One side building bridges, the other ready to burn them if necessary.

And in the middle of it all was Baba, watching, calculating, and knowing exactly when to switch between the two.
