The OG of Philly Public School Advocates. Parent-led citywide organization focused on engaging parents on issues of quality, justice & equity in public schools.
Very excited to finally share my article on reparative-advocacy planning in Philadelphia public schools! This article would not have been possible without all the support of organizers, parents, teachers, and staff in Philadelphia including @OCOSPhilly@WPCNS@ParentsUnitePHL
Please join us in urging City Council to approve Mayor Parker’s nominations of Wilkerson and Streater to the School Board. Our children deserve high quality schools, whether charter or traditional. https://t.co/ex2msP8aVt @CouncilmemberJG@CMThomasPHL@CouncilwomanKGR
It was wonderful to connect with parents at the 2024 Parent Summit: Igniting the Joy! This event aimed to share ideas, educate, and empower parents while fostering meaningful connections. Together, we're building a strong partnership dedicated to transforming our schools. #PHLED
I am very excited to be organizing a Peoples School Facilities Planning Retreat with Philadelphia organizations and staffers from elected offices across the state next Thursday.
@ParentsUnitePHL@OCOSphl@Vamos_Juntos_@HelenGymAtLarge@KendraPHL As we express our gratitude to our Home and School Officers and High School Seniors we must never forget those individuals who are committed to restorative justice, equity and equality in education, improving the life for our children and families,
As grateful as we are for recent school-level facilities victories, Philly schools desperately need systematic and equitable investment, and that can only come from true community engagement. Thank you @PhilaHSCouncil and @ParentsUnitePHL for this. https://t.co/tao9YS64UK

We’ve gotten media requests for parents who want to talk about discontent with COVID-related school shifts to virtual learning and how it is impacting their politics. All that does is show us (again) who these outlets are NOT speaking to in our communities. Willfully ignorant.
@Philly_RJ@PolicyLabCHOP “She encouraged people who are feeling sick to stay home and away from others.” Unless in a school in which case they should go if symptoms are “resolving,” whatever that means??? They have to stop talking from both sides of their mouths if they want to be believable.
Remote Action Mtg of @PHLschoolboard Jan 27. Board members can comment from home about why they continue to have large #s of children and staff in unventilated classrooms and hallways @APPSphilly@Philly_RJ@ParentsUnitePHL https://t.co/gcuOHXn6Ha
@venisew Truancy conversations start at 6 absences and referrals at 10+, those are the thresholds. Depending on number of absences so far, you might be able to do a handwritten sick note to have it excused. It is tricky for sure.
Caregivers, if you are uncertain about sending your child to school tomorrow and you have the ability to keep them home, do it and don’t feel any guilt about it. Attendance is not important. Health and safety are important. #PHLed
No surprises but deep disappointment in the abject failure to lead and lack of accountability. Always behind, always causing unnecessary turmoil and stress. #phlEd
