Sean kept neighbors like me informed on Forest Cove bc many of us were shut out of that convo even though we were impacted (walking distance away). His reporting was thorough and credible. Atlanta needs a dedicated housing beat writer. Someone hire this guy ❤️
Opening X to mourn the passing of @raulpacheco
I’m so utterly shocked & sad
I met Raul in the early 2010s at UBC. We moved to different continents but stayed in contact online & linked up when possible. Like others his work shaped my professional life, both my academic & policy
I teach this in my methods class and refer students to his website constantly. I admired his love of the work of being an academic and his beautiful relationship with his mother. RIP @raulpacheco
Recordando a Raúl Pacheco-Vega
Una de las pasiones de Pacheco-Vega eran los métodos de investigación. En esta red compartía sugerencias y los libros que compraba.
Este artículo muestra cómo abordaba el estudio de comunidades vulnerables.

@StephenJ_Caruso pov many years covering philly public ed: this is a cruel, cruel example of the clout held by wealthy suburban school communities. City schoolfolk can complain for years and years and years, & H’burg will ignore. Lower Merion & the like complain for two months & the bill passes
AND this IS WHY we need a network of cultural workers because ultimately people will not fight for something they can't SEE and you know whose really good at painting new realities??? ARTISTS but we have to HELP THEM not just USE them for free commission 🔥
The union that represents PECO's linemen, gas technicians, mechanics, call center workers, and back office workers has voted to authorize a strike.

I’m of the opinion that while some charter schools may be good, charter school policy is uniformly bad, and perhaps no aspect of our policy is worse than our cyber-charter funding scheme. It’s nothing less than a naked cash grab for a handful of politically-favored contractors
Here's a terrific tour of the nation's only public housing museum, built out of the last remaining building of an older project & containing 15 units of affordable housing on the premises.
It repositions public housing from denigration to a place of joy. https://t.co/vOnV7meA1h
Being a Chicago school board member is a tough role: time-consuming, unpaid, steeped in divisive politics and technicalities.
It's striking that 20 of the board's 21 current members are running to serve on the city's first fully elected board.

When you follow the lead of corporations and billionaires, from the arena to our schools, you get bandaid budgets and it’s always schools and services that get hit hardest
