A GOOD INTERVIEW CAN CHANGE YOUR LIFE

The interview that changed my career wasn’t one where I got selected.

It was a rejection.

I had around 18 months of experience, stuck in a legacy framework. I had learned Java by self study, gave an interview, and did badly. Out of desperation, I told the interviewer that I am hardworking and will work hard if given a chance.

The interviewer, a very experienced and kind professional, said something that completely changed my mindset:

1. Never request an interviewer to select you. If you have not done well, it is unfair to other candidates. Everyone here is a professional.

2. Never chase HRs for updates. If they want you, they will reach out after the interviews.

3. Build a structured framework for interviews. Keep improving it after every few interviews. Every rejection should become a learning chapter.

I followed all three points, and it changed everything for me.

Sometimes a rejection teaches you more than a selection ever could.
