Training of Ukrainian pilots and technicians is already underway and will expand this autumn.

I am in Sweden today on a working visit. We are preparing a major defense package for Ukraine and a strong step regarding Gripen fighter jets, which will definitely make our combat aviation more effective. Meetings are scheduled today with Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson, and representatives of the Swedish defense industry will also be present in the delegation format.

Canada has entered into negotiations to procure Saab’s Airborne Early Warning & Control Aircraft.

This new system will help the Canadian Armed Forces to detect and deter threats across the Arctic — and support more than 3000 Canadian jobs, from the skilled trades to engineering and tech.

Canada has decided to move forward with Saab GlobalEye as its new airborne capability for Airborne Early Warning and Control. I look forward to welcoming Canada into the GlobalEye family.

GlobalEye is a highly modern and capable system that now has earned the trust of a fourth country, in addition to Sweden, France and the UAE.

By operating Global Eye, Canada strengthens its ability to safeguard their sovereignty while contributing to NATO’s collective defence, including being a vital asset for surveillance and control of the Arctic region.

As the GlobalEye is based on the Canadian Bombardier Global 6500 platform, GlobalEye is already creating jobs in Canada, and working with the Canadian supply chain. This decision ties our two nations even closer together.

Conducted a series of high-level meetings in Sweden today with Prime Minister @SwedishPM, Defense Minister @PlJonson, Speaker @Sverigesriksdag, and members of Parliament, as well as defense industry leaders from @Saab and @OvzonAB.

Per @ZelenskyyUa’s mandate, the visit’s primary focus was laying the groundwork for Gripen contracts. We also proposed launching @BRAVE1ua Sweden—a dedicated platform for joint defense tech startups and the exchange of real-time combat experience between Ukraine and Sweden.

Sweden stands as a pivotal ally and a global leader in military support. I thanked the Swedish Government, Parliament and people for their continued assistance. Contributions to PURL, Giraffe radars, and RBS missiles are critical in shielding Ukraine’s skies from ballistic threats and drones.

It is vital that our allies witness the tangible impact of their support and understand exactly how their decisions shape the dynamics on the battlefield.

A French MRTT refuels Swedish fighters between Norway 🇳🇴 and Iceland 🇮🇸. For the first time since joining NATO, Sweden🇸🇪 will lead @NATO's Icelandic Air Policing mission.

The Swedish Air Force have deployed JAS-39 Gripen fighters to Iceland 🇮🇸, operating from Keflavík Air Base.

The mission supports peacetime air surveillance and helps safeguard NATO airspace.
