Parkes Lab Oxford Institute of Radiation Oncology. Cancer Immunology research, innate immune pathways, working towards better science = better cancer treatment
Excited to share the first @olcina_lab preprint where we describe how C5aR1 regulates cancer cell fate and can be targeted to improve radiotherapy even in tumours with immunosuppressive features. https://t.co/01Jx0p6fp4 #bioRxiv
Many thanks to @olcina_lab and collaborators!
Thrilled to have had the opportunity to represent @ParkesLab and present my work at the DNA-damage response in cell physiology and disease workshop in Sounio. An incredible venue with amazing science and even better people. #EMBODNAdamage
@eileen_parkes from @ParkesLab modifies the concept of Swiss cheese models to highlight all the constituent parts that need to come together for an effective tumour response - love this concept #OIS2022
😊😊 Thank you so much Eileen @eileen_parkes. Grateful for your immense support. If anyone’s interested in Tumor immunology/DNA damage, I highly recommend the @ParkesLab. Super smart and supportive people!
The very first Parkes lab publication is online! Congratulations to DPhil student @OxfordOncology@OIRO Jamie Kwon - read about the tumour microenvironment of #Prostate cancer and ideas for future immunogenomic subtyping 👇https://t.co/gSuWhxBTV0
.@eileen_parkes is a researcher.
You helped us save research like Dr Parkes' by raising almost £2m to keep work going in lockdown.
But we can't stop now. The end of the pandemic may be in sight, but prostate cancer is as big a threat as ever.

Thank you @ImmunoSW for a warm welcome and the opportunity to share our work! Been a long term admirer of the world class immunologists in Cardiff and great to have the opportunity to interact
We talk to @sharib_m from @bdi_oxford in our new blog about the challenges in the early detection of oesophageal cancer
Sharib is improving the accuracy of endoscopic diagnosis through the use of AI technologies and global AI collaborations

1. https://t.co/Sn3LBklW6c New work from the group describing transcriptomic analysis of CD8 responses to immune checkpoint blockade in melanoma. We find genes encoding TCR are over-expressed in samples from melanoma patients who proceed to have a sustained response to treatment
Such a privilege to interview prospective PhD candidates over the past few days - so impressed to see everyone passionate about tackling cancer - the future of cancer research is in good hands!
