For seventy years she turned obsession into infinity — the dots, the pumpkins, the mirrored rooms that dissolve the wall between a person and the universe.

Yayoi Kusama broke through frontiers no one had mapped, and she changed the history of avant-garde art along the way.

We are so grateful for Kusama's work, for her belief in love and peace, & for a relationship with the Guggenheim that spanned much of her life.

Significant works live on in our collections in New York, Bilbao, and Abu Dhabi, including her INFINITY MIRRORED ROOM — DANCING LIGHTS THAT FLEW UP TO THE UNIVERSE (2019) currently on view in "Guggenheim Pop: 1960–Now."

Our deepest condolences to her family, her friends, her colleagues, and to everyone who found something of themselves in her work.

West Bank, Palestine - We are deeply alarmed by reports coming out of Nablus today including that of Israeli forces storming Nablus Specialised Hospital, alongside clashes elsewhere in the governorate that have killed four Palestinians and two Israeli soldiers.

These violent incidents in Nablus are not isolated. They sit within a wider pattern of Israeli raids, state-sponsored settler violence, the disruption of essential services, and mounting pressure on civilians and healthcare.

When armed forces enter a hospital, the impact is immediate: fear, interruption of care, delayed treatment, and added risk for already vulnerable patients.

The protection of healthcare facilities must be respected. They must remain accessible to people in need. It is unacceptable for hospitals, ambulances, staff, and patients to be targeted by violence anywhere in Palestine.

Can multilateralism remain effective in an increasingly fragmented world?

As geopolitical competition, cultural identities, and competing visions of the international order continue to reshape global affairs, the future of multilateralism depends not on ignoring differences, but on engaging with them constructively.

This was a key theme of the side event Interdependence and Diversity in a Shared Multilateral Future, organised by Sikh Human Rights Group NGO and held during the 62nd session of the Human Rights Council.

One of the most compelling ideas shared during the discussion was:
“Truth is real and shared, but it is complex enough that no single perspective can fully hold it.”

In today’s interconnected yet increasingly multipolar world, diversity is neither a problem to eliminate nor a value to celebrate uncritically. It is a reality that calls for dialogue, mutual trust, and cooperation across cultures and worldviews.

At a time when global cooperation faces growing pressures, strengthening multilateralism means creating spaces where differences can become a source of collective resilience rather than division.
