In 2012, a 19-year-old aeronautical engineering student from Coimbatore presented propulsion research at a NASA event. Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam noticed, sought him out for a meeting, and handed him a recommendation letter with one challenge: prove your concept.
That student was Rohan M. Ganapathy. Three years later, he and family friend Yashas Karanam co-founded Bellatrix Aerospace from IISc's incubation lab in Bengaluru. The problem they chose to solve touches every satellite in orbit.
Nearly all satellites run on hydrazine, a propellant that has been standard since the 1960s. It is deeply toxic, carcinogenic, and so hazardous that it requires specialized crews and loading facilities near the launch site. India imports all of it. Nobody was building an alternative.
Bellatrix built two. Rudra is India's first high-performance green propulsion system, delivering hydrazine-equivalent thrust while cutting handling costs by over 60%.
Jal is a microwave plasma thruster that uses water as propellant, which Bellatrix claims is the world's first such system built by a private company. Both have been tested in orbit: Rudra fired on ISRO's POEM-3 in January 2024, and again on POEM-4 in January 2025.
Their third product, Pushpak, is an orbital transfer vehicle the company says can bring satellite deployment costs from $45,000 to $25,000 per kilogram. In October 2024, Bellatrix signed an MoU with ISRO's commercial arm, NewSpace India Limited, to integrate Pushpak into its launch missions. The company has raised $31 million to date, backed by BASF Venture Capital, Inflexor Ventures, and Cactus Partners.
For India, a domestic green propulsion stack means less dependence on imported hydrazine, lower costs for Indian satellite startups, and export-ready technology in a global market actively moving away from toxic fuels.
Kalam asked Rohan to prove his concept. More than a decade later, the proof has been fired in orbit.

Media reports that the supreme sacrifice of six bravehearts during #OperationSindoor have been acknowledged or brought to public notice for the first time only recently are incorrect. The nation paid homage to these fallen heroes at the earliest opportunity, well before the reports in question. During the official press conference held on May 11, 2025, then Director General of Military Operations paid solemn tribute to these brave soldiers and specifically acknowledged their sacrifice in the line of duty during Operation Sindoor.
These bravehearts were conferred with gallantry awards and this was published in the press release of August 14, 2025. This constituted a formal and national recognition of their valour and supreme sacrifice in keeping with the highest traditions of the Indian Defence Forces.
Simultaneously, the Indian Army’s official social media platforms carried tributes to these bravehearts without delay. The nation’s recognition of these heroes has continued thereafter.

Incredible!
Remember Newslaundry was laughing when people were dying in bomb attacks under TMC rule?
But now that people are throwing eggs at TMC, the folks at Newslaundry are so upset
Finally Newslaundry realized that violence is not funny? Good...
In a major relief to industrial and commercial LPG consumers, the Government has removed all sectoral restrictions on the supply of Non-Domestic Packed LPG and restored supplies to the levels prevailing prior to the West Asia crisis. Further, the supply of bulk LPG, which had been suspended at the onset of the crisis, has been relaxed by 50% of the pre-crisis consumption levels, providing significant relief to commercial and industrial consumers. The restoration follows the recent improvement in the LPG supply situation: Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas
During the West- Asia crisis, to augment domestic LPG production, the Government had issued orders under the Essential Commodities Act requiring C3-C4 streams to be utilised exclusively for LPG production, diverting them from petrochemical and other downstream uses. Taking note of the improved indigenous LPG production and the projected availability of imported LPG cargoes, Government has also decided to reduce the diversion of C3/C4 streams to LPG pool. The enhanced allocation of C3-C4 streams for non-LPG uses will be implemented while ensuring that the domestic LPG availability remains unaffected and aggregate indigenous LPG production is maintained at not less than 40 TMT per day: Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas
#WATCH | Delhi | BJP leader Pradeep Bhandari says, “We allege that Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and his son (Priyank Kharge) are looting land through a trust called Siddharth Vihar Trust... I will present several cases of corruption in which Mallikarjun Kharge, through this trust, has taken over various lands and used his power and influence to usurp the lands of the poor..."
The Government of India has noted certain misleading and unsubstantiated claims being circulated on social media regarding Ethanol Blended Petrol (EBP), which appear to be aimed at confusing and misleading the public. It has also been observed that old images and videos are being recirculated in an apparent attempt to garner viewership through sensationalism and create unwarranted concerns regarding ethanol-blended fuel. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas reiterates that the Ethanol Blending Programme is scientifically validated and continuously monitored by the Government. The Ethanol Blending Programme was launched in 2003 with the objectives of reducing crude oil imports, enhancing energy security and promoting environmental sustainability. The programme has been implemented in a phased manner based on technical preparedness and stakeholder consultations, culminating in the rollout of 20 per cent ethanol blending (E20) from 2023 onwards. The Government continuously monitors the implementation of the Ethanol Blending Programme in consultation with oil marketing companies, automobile manufacturers, fuel testing agencies and other stakeholders: Ministry of Petroleum & Natural Gas

Approximately ₹5500 crore has been spent on Bengaluru’s roads in 3 years. We have 98% potholes and 2% roads to show for it.
I met with Minister @krishnabgowda with 2 non-negotiable demands.
1. In 30 days: Publish a White Paper which provides clarity on road repair spending that has happened over the last 3 years.
2. In 60 days: Launch a live Infrastructure Dashboard with clear timelines, budgets, and contractors before the next ₹2,000 crore is allocated.
The problem was never funding, it’s accountability.
I have written to Minister @krishnabgowda with a 15-point agenda across infrastructure, mobility, water, housing and governance. Our goal is to support his intent to bring change for Bengaluru

SUDHANSHU TRIVEDI: "It's disturbing that NEET aspirants missed their exam in Bengaluru because of Congress rally"
"Congress refused to adjust its rally timings"
"Rahul Gandhi was doing politics in Kota, while his own government refused to change the schedule"
"For them, politics comes above everything else."
#WATCH | Delhi | On Mallikarjun Kharge's reaction to Congress workers during the party's program, BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh says, "It was inevitable that he would get angry, given his own ambition to become the Chief Minister. That is precisely why the Congress President could not tolerate slogans being raised in support of his own party's Chief Minister. The Congress has now splintered into 'Congress Rahul', 'Congress Priyanka', and 'Congress Mummy', with 'Congress Kharge' serving as a subsidiary to these three entities—dreaming of securing the license to run the state government in Bengaluru. He spoke his mind and threatened action against those chanting slogans for his own party's Chief Minister. What greater political paradox could there be?"
On Pawan Khera mocking Shashi Tharoor, he says, "Does he have the authority to expel Shashi Tharoor from the party? The Congress party is run by the Gandhi family, which has remained silent on this matter and is, therefore, tacitly accepting Tharoor's views... Do these individuals possess even 1% of the knowledge regarding foreign policy that Shashi Tharoor has? These people from the 'PA community' ought to learn from Shashi Tharoor on this subject every day before making any comments; otherwise, they simply become figures of ridicule."

I thank the Chief Ministers and leaders of the NDA for their warm wishes. The NDA’s journey has been defined by a shared resolve to further national interest and regional aspirations. This spirit has strengthened our democracy, deepened cooperative federalism and accelerated development. Over the last 12 years, the NDA has provided a stable government that has furthered progress across sectors.
We will continue working together with renewed vigour in service of the nation and the vision of Viksit Bharat.
Congress and its ecosystem have nothing to cheer about. A simple reading of the order is enough to burst their bubble. Since they clearly won’t read it, let me have the pleasure of busting their false joy:
The returning of the petition by the trial court does not mean that the case has been rejected.
The court has merely returned the complaint on the question of jurisdiction, directing that it be presented before the appropriate court, since the respondents/proposed accused are elected representatives.
The core issue remains unchanged: while filing her nomination papers, she failed to disclose the pending case against her in the affidavit.
The rejection of the nomination was based on this serious non-disclosure, a position supported by several judicial precedents. The Election Commission acted in accordance with the settled legal position.
Therefore, Congress has absolutely nothing to rejoice over. A procedural return of the complaint is not a clean chit.
The Centre has issued a temporary order to regulate petrol and diesel supplies through retail fuel stations, citing concerns over global supply disruptions and bulk purchases by commercial users. The move aims to prevent hoarding, diversion and local shortages while ensuring uninterrupted fuel availability for ordinary consumers. Importantly, there is no restriction on normal refuelling by the public.
