This is it. The freeze disproportionately hits the highest earning 20%. Doesn’t really touch the top 1%.
We’ve accidentally created a unique kind of progressive taxation aimed at those earning about £50k to 150k
NEW - we've data showing huge numbers of people reducing their income to avoid high marginal income tax rates. Not just at the £100k point (as previously reported). But at the £50k point:
This is ridiculous @RachelReevesMP
Imagine you were earn £99,000 and you are given a £2000 pay rise. Depending on your circumstances, it could cost you £27,000.

I'm being sued for £8m, in what I believe is one of the largest English libel claims ever made.
In the interests of transparency, I'm publishing all the documents here: https://t.co/y4vhem3IgD
What digitial IDs can’t do:
- stop illegal immigration
- stop crime
- help the poor
- save money
- make your life easier
What digitial IDs can do:
- make billions for the people who operate them
- jeopardise your personal data, leaving you exposed to identity theft and blackmail
- stop working due to hacks, system crashes and technical glitches
- end your right to privacy
- enable the government to spy on you, recording your movements, shopping habits, social media contacts, social media posts, DMs, phone calls, text messages, emails, personal photos and videos, and even access your camera and microphone
- pave the way for authoritarian measures through constant surveillance, punishing wrong think and pre-crime
- switch off your access to anything that in future requires them, which could include anything from internet access to driving your car to using your bank account
Literally nobody voted for this…
3. this is not the moment for an incredibly expensive increase in state surveillance infrastructure to be run for profit by private tech firms just before Labour ushers in an (even more) authoritarian right wing government.
FIX THE GODDAMN COST OF LIVING INSTEAD YOU FREAKS.
The Government's plan for mandatory digital ID must be stopped in its tracks.
In the PM's own book, he discusses Article 8 of the ECHR: The right to respect for private and family life, home and correspondence.

The British police are forever telling us that they don’t have sufficient resources to investigate serious crimes, ranging from burglaries to fraud to knife crime.
Yet, they can send 5 armed officers to arrest Graham Linehan for posting something on social media.
Dark times.
It is one of the great scandals of our time.
Drax, which generates electricity by burning trees imported as pellets from North America, is more expensive than gas, more polluting than coal and more dependent on imports than oil.
Yet it is, incredibly, designated as ‘sustainable biomass’, pocketed £870m in subsidies last year and will likely trouser another 2 billion subsidies over the next four years – all to allow Ed ‘The Zealot’ Miliband to include Drax in his net zero calculations.
Not just a scandal but an expensive scandal for the taxpayer.
Is Ricky Jones's acquittal for urging people to slit the throats of anti-immigrant protestors an example of 'two tier' justice, given Lucy Connolly got 31 months for a single tweet she deleted within hours and then apologised for?
The two cases aren't directly comparable since they were charged with different offences and he pleaded not guilty whereas she pleaded guilty.
However, Ricky Jones was granted bail and Lucy Connolly wasn't. Had she been, she would have been more likely to plead not guilty and might well have been acquitted, just as Jamie Michael was when charged with a similar offence which he pleaded not guilty to.
The fact that the jury in Ricky Jones's case acquitted him is good news. Juries, it seems, are reluctant to convict people for speech offences, even when they use violent, inflammatory language. The Crown Prosecution Service should take note.
