Beaten Path, a new solo-developed tactical RPG inspired by Fire Emblem and Final Fantasy Tactics, has been announced for PC and consoles.
Check out the first trailer:
Everyone hates it when their opponent just leaves the game before it's over, so I've been trying to find ways to soften the blow a little bit. #fightinggame#gamemaker#indiedev

Miyamoto revealed why Mario is able to run over small gaps in 2D Mario games:
“You know Mario’s B-Dash, right? If you hold the B button while running, he can cross small gaps without failing – that small cheat. Truth be told, that was actually a bug caused by flawed collision detection with the ground. When the programmer noticed it, he said, ‘Huh? He didn’t fall!’ and tried to fix it. But I said, ‘No, no! It’s fun if he can dash across – let’s leave it as is!’ [laughs]. So we kept it.”

New Interview for Wuchang Fallen Feathers sequel.
• Bai Wuchang as Protagonist
• Development early stages
• Old team returns, expanding team
• Extremely satisfied with the scale of the player base game has reached (speaking for first game on reaching 5M players)
🧵
Been experimenting with more shaders! This one adds a grid-like scanline effect, kind of like the Nintendo DS or Game Boy Color screens.
Also, I've been working on several new enemies lately!

Alex Garland wanted the Elden Ring movie so badly he wrote a 160-page script, plus 40 pages of visuals, entirely on spec. Then he flew to Japan to pitch Hidetaka Miyazaki in person. No studio sent him. He had no rights. He just showed up with 200 pages.
Video game adaptations usually start with a studio optioning the IP and handing it to a director who never played the game. Fans can smell it in the first trailer. This one started with the director spending months writing for free, then begging for permission.
A24 broke its own model to back him. Their previous budget records were Marty Supreme at $90M and The Smashing Machine at around $70M. Elden Ring came in well over $100 million, the most expensive film in the studio's history, shot across 100 days in the UK and Iceland on native IMAX cameras. Real Welsh castles stood in for the Lands Between.
The source material can carry the bet. The game has shipped over 30 million copies, built on a mythology George R.R. Martin wrote for FromSoftware. Kit Connor, Cailee Spaeny, Ben Whishaw, Nick Offerman, and Jonathan Pryce lead the cast.
Every adaptation director claims to love the source material. Garland wrote 200 pages and bought his own plane ticket before anyone gave him the rights.

Really, can't thank the folks at @Street_Fighter and @CapcomUSA_ more for making this happen. We we're just kids pumping quarters into a machine cause we loved it. 30+ years later, on a film set because of it. Can't wait to see the full movie. ❤️
