We're thrilled to see Physician Assistants (PAs) once again recognized as key members of interprofessional primary care teams in today’s announcement from the Ontario Government: https://t.co/o2thhHMG2A
This move will connect 300,000 more people to a family doctor and team-based care — and PAs are part of the solution.
Thank you to the Ontario Government for acknowledging the vital role PAs play in delivering accessible, high-quality care across the province.

Valuable OR time gets canceled because there are not enough surgical assist physicians. It doesn’t have to be this way. The minister of health could (today) direct the college to start licensing physician assistants in BC. This is done all over the world. They work right alongside the specialist surgeon. Right now this role is often filled by a family doctor but they are also needed for other work.
This would support or surgeons, improve patient care, improve access, and decrease the number of cancelled ORs.
Unfortunately it would cost less money than what we do now.
Wait. What?
Just make the call. Move this forward.
The @USaskMed MPAS program will welcome its first cohort of 20 students in September 2025
