I’ve spent 25 years working in gambling, and even longer gambling myself.

My experience has overwhelmingly been one of friendship, family, probability, emotional control, terrible accumulators, racecourse rituals and occasionally expensive fun.

@BoltonRedSock @nickgoff79 Don't be daft. VAR is the last thing we want in the lower leagues. The reffing isn't great but it's no worse than it ever was. It's just that every game now is on TV so people notice it more. The points made about celebrating a goal are spot on

@ByronWayupna I still watch it on bet365 if I've had a bet but nowhere near as good without commentary. Foulds one of the best. Some tournaments on ITV4 but the sport will lose a lot of fans due to TNT

@BoltonRedSock @brucemillington 100% correct on this issue as ever. Amazing that football doesn't have a clock yet. Works perfectly in NFL, Rugby, Aussie Rules for example. Luckily I have taken no interest in the Club World Cup so wasn't watching

@pastybob @brucemillington That's a disgrace. #psgrma even had a cooling break and the ref blew on exactly 90 mins, never mind subs & 'injuries' etc. Is it up to referees now that you're losing by too many? Where are they drawing the line? Never mind the gambling aspects.
