@burghbulletin Barring injury, with Curiel you get elite bat-to-ball skills and a capable centerfielder. Power, or lack of it, may be an issue, but a solid big leaguer he should be. Booth is a crapshoot, helluva athlete but a lot of questions about setup and swing.
@MartyOnFifthAve "they can move Termarr/Sanford/Stafura in the next few weeks maybe" I would be surprised if one of them is not in a deal for pitching, put De Los Santos in that mix too.
@ScottyBseball@AlexJStumpf Shortstops are often drafted, particularly out of HS, because they are generally the best athletes and have the best chance to develop there or other positions.
@colin_beazley Outstanding defender, small size and age (19 in March) create concern that he will hit much. Low risk to becoming MLB capable defender though.
@northsiden0tch Let's see what they do at #44 and #51, maybe they have a plan for big upside like Bubba's draft year. Sometimes works like Bubba, not with Solometo due to injury, White Jr. ... still a small chance.
@Pittsburghrecap@MartyOnFifthAve Cruz won't be in center at some point in 2028 when Curiel arrives and Cruz may be gone anyway before he hits FA in '28 off-season. Mangum is 30, nice story and hitting well, but a regular in the outfield in 2-3 more years? Very doubtful.
@nomodingdongs@YoungBucsPIT@Pirates Termarr Johnson, Paul Skenes, Konnor Griffin, Seth Hernandez...also big money in 2nd and 3rd rounds to great football athletes like Ashcraft and Bubba. But, no, they never play slot, let alone above.
@Pitt412sports@YoungBucsPIT@Pirates Booth is an outstanding athlete but big questions about his setup and swing. Run fast and jump high doesn't necessarily make a big leaguer. Curiel is a very good athlete with elite bat-to-ball skills, big difference right now.
@3RiversSportNet@YoungBucsPIT No, not even close. Mangum made his MLB debut at 29. Curiel should within 1-2 years depending on how much season next year. Curiel has elite bat-to-ball skills, question will be power.
@SteelCityJason7@colin_beazley Elite bat-to-ball skills, a good athlete who can play center, what's not to like? "you have to wonder what they're doing" 😂 Look at their farm system rankings and how they're graduating hitters like Griffin and Valdez after Skenes, Bubba, Ashcraft etc.
@northsiden0tch Flora yes, Booth no. Booth's set-up and swing, so much failure risk. Rojas is other pitcher I like, but everyone is saying lower on the board. Burress is a strong possibility, Curiel may be as well, power not so much, but elite bat to ball contact skills
@colin_beazley Here's some reading for everyone about how Gonzalez changed his swing this year and went from a former 1st round suspect to a standout prospect this one. https://t.co/DZyTJrIIbp
@ZforVendetta1@CWolfPGH They also have picks at #44 and #51. And as far as this trade goes, they are bringing in a guy that they think can help them win this year, which is most important. Or would you rather talk about 2028 after possibly not much of a season next year?
@realMaalouf "There are over 60 mosques in Rome, so why do they choose to pray so close to the headquarters of the Catholic Church?!" The pope's new Muslim prayer room was already full. 😂
@bigleagueinves1 "The power-laden outfield for the National Leaguers includes Foster, Greg Luzinski of Philadelphia and Dave Kingman of the New York Mets." 3 guys who could hit the ball a mile, but a nightmare trio in the field for even a few innings.
@marklevinshow "If Erdogan was considering joining Iran against us in our war against Iran why the hell would we sell them F-35s and jet engines?" First answer short-term is "tens of billions," Mark. But look to your faith for long-term answers; what's being fulfilled?
@NoahW_25@lastwordonsport Flora would be solid choice @#5, we'll see how Pirates have him on their board, or if Giants pick. Booth is a possibility here, and I think Pirates are high on Gio Rojas too. Willamson at #34, no thanks. $19.1 million let's Bucs take risks, like 2021.
