So, I had an accident about two hours ago with a military personnel. I was waiting at the traffic light near Transcorp Calabar to turn left towards the stadium. When the light turned green and I made the turn, my car suddenly started dragging something and crawling forward. Alarmed, I stopped and got out, only to see a military man with his bike trying to emerge from the gutter. My heart skipped a beat. I hadn’t beaten traffic and I hadn’t seen him at all.
He was very calm and polite—probably naval personnel, though I couldn’t tell for sure in his camouflage. I asked if he was alright, but he didn’t respond. His bike suffered less damage than my car. People who recognised me came around and helped gather the pieces to take to a panel beater.
The military man caused no trouble. I thank God no one was injured, and I thank God he didn’t use his position against me—especially since I wasn’t even wearing my cassock. In Nigeria, what you are and who you know can sometimes matter more.

Deeply honoured and grateful to receive the Sentinel of Freedom Service Award at the 2026 Armed Forces Gala & Award Nite in Abuja. This recognition, years after my voluntary retirement, is humbling and reaffirming. It strengthens my resolve to continue serving Nigeria through advocacy for peace, security, strategic communication, veterans’ welfare and responsible citizenship. I sincerely thank the Armed Forces of Nigeria and all who found me worthy of this honour. 🇳🇬 @DejiAdesogan@SecurityWatch97@segalink
