Google Marketing Live '26 is 24 hours away, where we'll be getting the latest across ads, AI & YouTube. A few predictions on what's coming for marketers:
More Predominant Ads Inside AI Overviews: Google will formalize and expand sponsored placements within AI Overview responses, with new eligibility requirements and reporting dedicated to that placement.
AI Video Ad Generation: Advertisers will be able to generate short video ads from a product URL or text brief using Gemini, lowering the barrier for brands that have no video creative.
Dynamic Search Ads Absorbed Into PMax: Google sunsets standalone DSA campaigns, folding the functionality fully into Performance Max as a targeting layer.
Smart Bidding Gets Predictive Signals: Expect new first-party signal integrations that let Smart Bidding factor in CRM data, loyalty status, and lifetime value.

OpenAI has announced plans to let users “securely connect” ChatGPT to their bank accounts through Plaid.
The proposed intention is for ChatGPT to provide users with curated financial advice.

• AI visibility is becoming as important as traditional SEO visibility. Brands now need content that AI assistants can confidently summarize and cite.
• Ranking #1 matters less if AI Overviews answer the question before the click even happens.
• Google is rewarding clear, authoritative, “people-first” content, but really content that’s easy for AI systems to extract and trust.
•Citation optimization is becoming the next SEO battleground: marketers will increasingly care about whether their brand is referenced inside AI-generated answers, not just organic rankings.

☝️Google Analytics will now be categorizing traffic with an “ai-assistant” medium when the referral source is identified as a recognized AI assistant.
This is genuinely going to be interesting to monitor and I fully expect this to be a new 'north star' aquisition pathway for most brands.
