Dear @SeaOfThieves@ChappersChapman@S0nicbob
Please take your time and read this:
Me and others have tried reaching support with no success @SoT_Support Let's address this recent doubloon update and why the decision is Totally Wrong!
On the 16th of April, the first Weekender went live, and a lot of people hopped on to start grinding doubloons and enjoying the event. A decent amount of players did not have their doubloons reset, meaning that many of us could take advantage of this and buy stuff from Duke with doubloons we should not have had. Some of these players had way more than the cap of 4000, which meant they could not earn any doubloons during the event. Relogging or disconnecting would not change it for them. This is nothing that the players had control over.
Then, on the 5th of May, an update came addressing the players who did not have their doubloons reset during the Weekender. This resulted in everything they bought being removed. Here is where it starts to become wrong.
There are 3 different groups of players that lost their items. Let's start from the most obvious to the least:
1⃣ Players who had way more than the cap. They could buy everything and didn't need to grind for anything during the Weekender. They basically could not participate in the event. After the recent update, they lost all the stuff.
2⃣ Players who had under the cap of 4000, but not 0. I'm in this group of people. I converted all of my doubloons during the last Community Weekend all the way down to under 4000 doubloons. (This was also before we knew the conversion rate to gold.) During the Weekender, I could buy some of the stuff from Duke, but not all of it, so I would still need to grind normally to get the rest of the items, which i did. So I could participate in the event and gain some of the stuff legitimately. After the recent update, we lost all the stuff, including items earned normally, not just the items bought with doubloons we should not have had.
3⃣ Players who DID have their doubloons RESET during the Weekender. These players could participate normally, but after the recent update, some of these players lost all their stuff, even though everything was earned legitimately! ☝️
I hope by now you can see the problem here. None of us asked for this to happen. Think about the players that did not get reset, should they just not play? How could they participate in the first place? Should they not buy the stuff? It is not their fault that they kept doubloons they should not have had, and there was nothing they could do about it. Some players again DID have their doubloons reset, so what justice do they have in all of this!
I'm not sure what the perfect solution for all of this would be (if there even is one).
One solution is to revert the whole update. Why? At this point, it's been such a mess with the removal of doubloons, so why not just let people keep what they got? Players would still need to grind next season anyway.
The second solution would be to compensate players affected by this by giving them a certain amount of doubloons, especially the ones who had their doubloons reset during the Weekender.
Another solution, which I have also seen others suggest, would be to make the Weekenders happen more often or extend their duration. They only happen once every act, and not everyone can make time to play during that timeframe.
Me and many others have already tried contacting support, but all we get is the same reply:
"While we are sorry for any disappointment with the outcome of your request, please be aware that we are also unable to offer compensation for the removal of these items or assist further. However, the items from these stores will remain available for purchase for the foreseeable future."
This is false. You have all the power to remove or add cosmetics however you want to.
This is not the kind of post I usually make, but removing stuff from players' accounts for something that is not their fault is totally wrong. There is a reason many of us have commented about this on different platforms like X, Discord, etc. It's not because we hate the game, it's because we care. Many of us dedicate thousands of hours to this game, and we love #SeaOfThieves ❤️ but sometimes you guys make it hard for us to show that 🙂
Please address this situation further.
Thanks for reading, and have a wonderful day, fellow pirates 🙂
@ICTD_MIKE@KingHotdogPig And what did you want us to do instead? I should have bought 10k firework crates to drain my wallet to 0 before I started playing or what? They should have done this day 1 so we could actually play the event properly, not weeks after it finished.
So to be clear. Devs failed to reset people
They bough stuff with doubloons they had.
They couldn't earn doubloons due to being caped.
Now they got reset and items removed and are basically down doubloons that they could earn during one weekender.
How this is fair?
I’m so confused.
Players who didn’t convert their doubloons before the reset were able to buy all of Duke’s items immediately because they weren’t reset.
Now those items are being taken away. So even if you played during the last Weekender and bought those items because you weren’t reset (not your fault) that progress now doesn’t count, and you’ll now have to grind again next Weekender just to afford both the new items and the ones you already bought.
This has been handled so poorly. Punishing players for a mistake on your end isn’t the right call.

@SoT_Support Those of us who weren't reset were unable to earn any doubloons "fairly" during the TIME-LIMITED event since we were stuck above the wallet cap, through no fault of our own. Will you repeat the weekender early to let us catch up, or are you just leaving us permanently behind?
@SeaOfThieves Why did you start censoring sot streamer names in game chat? I was trying to talk about drops with my crewmates and noticed this today. Is this part of the new "improved profanity filtering system" mentioned in the latest patch notes?
