Ever since we met @CJMcCollum he has been Lincoln’s favorite player and a couple days ago CJ posted a video of him playing a game Linc loves on the HomeCourt app so he was inspired to try to beat his score. Kid’s pretty good.
Over the last 4 years, through migraines, shin injuries, a smashed nose, bumps & bruises, for all 115 games, all 742 innings, Sawyer Nelson played shortstop for each of his 16 pitchers’ 12,382 pitches. And he did it as the premiere SS in the state. He’s the Iron Man of Saxon ⚾️.
True story: I saw @CHold at a Blazers game and was too star struck to say what’s up. Dude is a legend. I’m a huge fan of his and sad that Blazers made such a poor decision.
This is probably going to rub some people the wrong way, but it’s my platform and my opinion, so here we go…
Summer baseball through the high school program should only be for the development of depth players.
The best players in each class should be able to go play on the summer travel circuit and chase playing more quality opponents.
I feel like it’s no coincidence that some of the best teams in our area in recent years do not try to strong arm their best players into staying home for the summer and playing the same teams (often depleted) that they just got done playing in the regular season.
The best events to play in for competition (underclassmen) and recruiting visibility (upperclassmen) happen in June and early July. Strong arming players into staying home and playing lesser competition doesn’t help their development in the long term.
Let them get out, face different opponents, different adversity, and be coached by different people. They will be better for it. Just look at the schools that are winning and pumping out D1 dudes.
THE WAIT IS OVER
Andruw Jones — 434 HR, 10 Gold Gloves, 1,289 RBI — is headed to Cooperstown where he’s always belonged. A Braves icon and the best glove of his generation. LONG overdue @andruwjones25
Sawyer Nelson (‘26 OR) continues to swing a hot bat. Splits the gap here for the lead off triple. Advanced pure hit leads the profile amongst the array of quality tools. Always a big winner or two out of #MLKWest every year and Nelson’s performance thus far fits the bill.
Gary Danielson as an announcer is like watching a game with an old man who hasn’t watched a football game since 2006. He makes sooooo many mistakes and is wrong a lot.
