Guess who made the cover of a cbc article!! I am so proud of everyone who came to the walkout, all the organizers from 11 schools, such as myself, and all those who continue to fight for the right for 2SLGBTQ+ students to feel safe in the YCDSB! Keep up the good work!
Dozens of York Catholic District School Board students staged a class walkout Thursday to protest its decision not to raise the Pride flag at its education centre. https://t.co/Ed7Pg2mLwZ

On June 8, 2023, walk out of your schools and classes in support of 2SLGBTQ+ respect, dignity, and visibility.
The YCDSB has shown us that they do not value their students, staff, and community members. We must act now!

tough result, heartbreaking, really. But the students will continue to fight for what's right, and the student trustees will continue to be there for them. We are the leaders of today and tomorrow. #onted@YCDSB@anthea_peta

@YCDSB Happy to report that after a whole lot of flip flopping, the Board of Trustees has reversed their decision. Delegations have now been allowed to speak at next Tuesday's board meeting
@IEmakpor and I wrote the lettter and petition to prove that we are not alone in supporting this cause. Our letter outlines how our Catholic values support the representation of 2SLGBTQ+ students, and calls on the @YCDSB to raise the pride flag in June to take meaningful action.
We urge all @YCDSB parents, staff, students, and community members to sign the petition, so all of us students, can feel properly represented and welcomed in our schools. If you are able to, please share the petition with others - when we grow together, we grow stronger.
@eileenmcmahonNP@YCDSB Thank you for sharing our petition Eileen!! We need all the support we can get. When we grow together, we grow stronger. The YCDSB needs to take meaningful action to support 2SLGBTQ+ students, and raising the pride flag is the best way to achieve that.
