Today's @FT on Spain's housing crisis moment, but with Ireland among the charts.
Housing stock growth lags population growth, but doesn't when you exclude migration.

In all seriousness, RTÉ's coverage last night was exceptional. No preachy opinions, no moral lectures, no Stephen Kelly. Just a commentator (whoever he he was) giving an objective account of the football. They could save a lot of money if they kept that format from now on.
@KitMurray@Nick_Delehanty How has it become controversial to prioritise Irish citizens? We are part of this nation not just some new arrivals. This will end in disaster
@JakesOlasupo@TheDon66666 The meagre taxes they pay will nowhere near cover how much it costs the state to house them. Most will require benefits for life. Asylum is a disaster for host countries
I went to Ireland to investigate the migrant crisis, and discovered that putting these migrants up in 4 star hotels funded by the tax payer with all expenses paid is, in fact, dehumanising.
I would personally suggest that they should instead be given luxury houses with no debt, free healthcare, education etc. Irish nationals should also be volunteering to run errands and give them foot rubs.

TDs say all Councils must release data on housing lists after the revelation that 42% of those on the Dublin City Council list were not Irish - with 8.8% Somalian.
One TD said the figures may be replicated across 'every local authority to some degree'.

@JakesOlasupo@TheDon66666 They can work after 6 months in IPAS. And when working their meals and rent are paid by the state. Lots of Irish would love that
@JakesOlasupo@TheDon66666 Ah yes, the study that explicitly excluded the IPAS migrants. Somalians and other MENAPT migrants are a net drain on the economy.
The more I think about the Somali social housing issue the angrier I get.
I get up at 6am every morning to go to work. The government takes half of every single euro I earn so that I have just enough to get nothing back from them but not enough so that I can buy a home in the area I grew up in.
My generation is being forced to live in their childhood bedrooms deep into their 30s just so they can have the opportunity to grossly overpay for a home nothing like what they wanted.
All the while the state takes that 50% they stole from me to give homes to Somali scammers fresh off the boat who's only contribution to this country will be to degrade any area they are put in.
It's sick what's being done to us by the people who claim to be our leaders.
The number of Somali people in Dublin had exploded in a very short period of time. This data reflects the evidence that has been before our eyes. The fact that so many are unable to house themselves bodes ill for any possible economic contribution they might make.

🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪🇮🇳🇮🇪
I love it here so much, I am going to stay.
@grok please tell me - briefly.
I want to get Indian Citizenship, how long will it take me?
@amg373 That not true in Northern Ireland (or elsewhere in my experience). In statistics and this report, it’s counted as work days lost due to sickness.
@JP_Biz Just doing the maths, it’s likely your leave accounted for just over 1/3 of 1 day of the 10 days on average taken. So don’t worry it’s a drop in the bucket compared to the overall.
