7/ So that's the story! Boston and SF battling for the 2010s bragging rights, while LA and Tampa Bay are off to a great start in the 2020s (and the Lightning are two rounds away from a third straight Stanley Cup). The battle for the Sports City of the Decade continues!
1/ On the eve of Celtics vs Warriors, its a great time to revisit the coveted Sports City of the Decade. In particular, we will reflect on the 2010s and give an update on the 2020s.

Let’s stop there, as WWII disruptions and lack of NBA make prior decades difficult. To recap:
- 2010s: San Francisco (6)
- 2000s: Boston (6)
- 1990s: Chicago (6)
- 1980s: Los Angeles (8)
- 1970s: Pittsburgh (5)
- 1960s: Boston (9)
- 1950s: Detroit (7)
Now, back to present day...
6/ With their championships across three sports (and Dodgers over Rays tiebreaker), LA is the early favorite to win the 2020s. Additionally, they host the Olympics in 2028, which is ironic b/c they won in the previous decade they hosted (1980s - 8 titles plus 1984 Olympics)

Come have fun. 8pm ET.
@Durkin@robmay Two that come to mind: 1) opponent shooting %, esp on threes; suggest using expected % to control for make / miss randomness, and 2) usage of optimal lineups (based on Real Plus Minus?) to assess mix of players; guessing all those Semi minutes won’t look great
Alright, so now you know how much is riding on the game. Who do I like? My head says the Chiefs win (Mahomes is a special talent and proves to be too much), but my heart will be rooting for these two legends!
Tomorrow’s Super Bowl has extra meaning for Kansas City and Tampa Bay, as the winning city will be nicely positioned to make a run at the coveted Sports City of the Decade. Here’s why...
That said, LA is still the strong favorite: LeBron is showing no sign of slowing down, my beloved Mookie is signed thru 2032, Junk Time Daddy Stafford is taking the reins for the Rams, plus LA gets bonus points for hosting the ‘28 Olympics. Still, tomorrow’s winner has a shot!
