This week, a golfing friend offered some wise advice. “To shoot 64 you can’t be afraid of shooting 83.”
Think about that for a minute. It’s not just advice for playing golf. It applies to literally everything.
Obtaining exceptional results in anything requires taking some calculated risks. You can’t let the fear of failure control and limit you. You also can’t move forward with reckless abandon.
Prepare, plan, train, and execute. Challenges will arise - deal with each one and move on to the next.
Always balance the risks that you take versus the possible reward and move forward according to your ability to handle either outcome.
I wanted to give one last tip of the cap to Clayton Freshcorn. He had one of the best seasons as a relief pitcher that I can remember at Texas A&M.
He finished tied for 4th most saves in a single season at A&M with 12 and tied for 6th most career saves at A&M with 14!
Lastly, we all know how he laid it all on the line last night to give this team a chance
If his time at A&M is over, which I presume it is, he had a helluva career here and will be missed!
@CoachT_x2 Great points. Recruiting will definitely be a key. Early needs to not only work the transfer portal but he must also dive into recruiting top D1 JUCO talent. Freshcorn came from McLennan. There are a lot of DUDES playing high level JUCO ball who could help the Aggies.
😳. Great story. He had a way more interesting round than I did yesterday in my US Senior Open final qualifier. 5 birdies and 6 others for a one over 73 missing playoff by 3 shots after starting the day 2 under after 2 holes. Tournament golf is a different animal. No trucks in the fairway though - thank God! 😉
@PGAPappas@WilsonGolf Have to admit that these look very good. Have never played Wilson irons. If you need a test pilot for a set I could be your guy. 😉
I played in the @USGA US Senior Open Regional final qualifier today at GOLFCREST in Pearland, Texas. I failed to qualify but enjoyed it immensely. Truly fun to compete, feel the adrenaline, and hit shots that matter. This field was the best that I have ever played against. Full of pros, top amateurs, and tour winners from both sides of the pond. Grateful to have had the opportunity. Made enough birdies to get through but had too many others. Two poor swings and one missed putt ended up being the difference. I learned a lot out there today and will improve from the experience. It was 7100 yards of hot, humid, sweaty golf. The course was fantastic with a challenging setup and greens that were pure and rolling smooth and fast.
Thank you, Jeff! Always fun to compete and the field was the best that I have ever played against. Full of pros and tour winners from both sides of the pond. Grateful to have had the opportunity. Made enough birdies to get through but had too many others. Two poor swings and one missed putt ended up being the difference. I learned a lot out there today and will improve from the experience.
@RichardZane32@mike_grahovac Love this! Let’s go Ags! Win or go home game! Fresh will take care of business on the mound. Let’s score some runs and keep playing ball!
There is good news if we do lose this game. USC will have burned their Ace pitcher up on us tonight. The Ags have Freshcorn who could move from the closer to the starter for tomorrow win or go home game. He was a starting pitcher at McClennan and can get the W with some run support.
@365Aggie Not crazy at all. He was a starting pitcher at McClennan. He is our best option to keep the season alive in a must win game. Have to quit giving up multi run homers like we have been so early in games.
@RichardZane32 🤯. That’s actually unbelievable as UCLA was a complete team that could ball. But that’s what I love about baseball. The best team doesn’t always win and with UCLA eliminated it definitely will make it an easier run for the eight teams that do make it to Omaha.
“But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.”
