Bitcoin had a quiet Saturday, but the flows are still worth watching.
💰 BTC ~$83,985, flat on the day (range ~$83.6K–84.3K)
What's happening:
• Spot ETFs bought +$134.5M on Sep 25, the 7th inflow day in a row and ~$2.39B for the week
• Funding turned slightly negative (−0.0002%), and futures traders are still net selling
• Open interest ~$21.6B, with liquidations flat
• Sequans sold its last 314 BTC and fully exited its Bitcoin treasury
Key levels:
 Support: $83.6K, then $83K
🔴 Resistance: $85K–86K, then the ~$87.4K weekly high
BTC is still stuck below the $85K–87.5K zone it lost this week. ETF buyers keep showing up, but there's no fresh push higher yet.
Geopolitics is driving markets this weekend.
🛢️ Hormuz: Trump rejected Iran's 7-day plan, passed through Qatar, to reopen the Strait and pause the fighting (Bloomberg, Reuters). Officials told WSJ he doubts Iran would stick to it and sees renewed bombing as likely after the November midterms. That keeps the risk premium in oil.
🤝 US–China: After the Trump–Xi summit, reports say roughly $30B in tariff cuts each way on non-sensitive goods, plus AI talks and an incident hotline. Not yet confirmed in official texts. Bloomberg says Taiwan came up and Trump didn't restate the long-standing US position.
⛽ Aramco: Saudi Aramco hired Evercore for a major restructuring that would split gas into its own division, with a possible future listing of that unit (Bloomberg).
🚨 Crypto enforcement: The CFTC sued Cash FX over an alleged ~$950M Ponzi scheme that marketed AI forex trading. Investors lost at least $406M.
🏦 No central bank rate decisions today.
NEWS:
• Stablecoin banking. The FT reports the DOJ froze about $84M held by the payments processor Capstone at Wells Fargo and JPMorgan. People familiar with it say Capstone's clients include Tether and Bitfinex. The Dominica bank EQIBank says about $89M of its money was seized (roughly 80% of its holdings) and warns it may have to liquidate. Tether says it knew nothing about any alleged Capstone fraud and puts its exposure to EQIBank at under 0.034% of assets. This matters because it's enforcement hitting the banking channels USDT relies on. Watch for more DOJ action or any trouble with USDT redemptions.
• The Bitget hack. Reuters reports about $352M in unauthorized transfers, which the exchange later traced to about $387.5M. Withdrawals are paused. The CEO says users are covered by the protection fund and cold wallets are intact. Bitget plans to reopen withdrawals by Saturday 04:00 UTC (03:00 Cape Verde time). A hack this size weighs on sentiment across crypto.
• Bonds and the Fed. Bloomberg says the US 30-year yield is above 5.5%, the highest since 2004, and Germany's 30-year is at its highest since 2011. Cleveland Fed President Hammack (Thursday, Reuters) said inflation is still elevated and the risks lean upward, with solid growth and a fairly tight labor market. A global long-bond selloff plus hawkish Fed talk is pressure on stocks and crypto. Watch the auctions, bond volatility, and the next Fed speakers.
• The Trump–Xi summit kept relations on track without major breakthroughs, per Bloomberg. Trump says he'll meet Xi in China in November and again at the G20 in Miami in December. Bessent is staying at Treasury. Trade Representative Greer will give details of the US–China trade talks on Monday. Bloomberg also reports Bessent and Japan's finance minister Katayama discussed the "desirability" of a strong yen. The key date is still the Nov 10 expiry of the tariff truce.
• Hormuz. A senior Iranian official told Reuters the Strait stays closed, with no nuclear talks or concessions until Iran's conditions are met. Iran also denied the talks reports that briefly knocked oil lower, so the risk premium on energy is still all or nothing.
• Also: WSJ says Blackstone's Joseph Baratta is preparing to leave. A Reuters exclusive says SK Hynix's Solidigm is weighing an IPO that could value it at up to about $150B.
Crypto regulation took two steps forward today, while bonds kept selling off.
🏛️ The Fed opened public comment on GENIUS Act stablecoin rules (reserves, capital, approvals). That's a regulated path for banks into stablecoins.
🪙 CFTC staff OK'd futures brokers holding tokenized versions of already-approved assets with customer funds, without waiting for the CLARITY Act.
📈 US 30Y yield hit its highest since 2004 (Reuters)
🏠 US mortgage rates reached 7% (WSJ)
🗣️ Fed's Paulson and Williams sound open to another hike
🛢️ Oil fell on a Reuters report of US–Iran talks to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, which Iran denied. The Houthis claim a strike on Aramco sites in Yanbu (damage unconfirmed).
⛽ The White House is asking US refiners to cut diesel exports voluntarily instead of banning them.
Bitcoin flushed out leverage today, then bounced.
📉 Dipped to ~$82.7K
📈 Back to ~$84.5K
What's behind it:
• Spot ETFs still bought $346.9M on Sep 23, the 3rd inflow day in a row (a smaller one)
• Futures open interest fell to ~$21.8B as leveraged longs got liquidated
• Short-term holders are near break-even
Key levels:
🟢 Support: $83.6K, then $82.7K
🔴 Resistance: $84.5K, then $85K–87.5K
The pressure is macro. The US 10Y yield is at its highest since 2007, with ~75% odds of an October Fed hike (CME FedWatch).
Getting back above $85K would put BTC back inside the range it lost this week.
@siegbert_nagl@cotta3@BitBeller Was du ‚funktionale Verdopplung' nennst, ist keine Mengen-, sondern Kaufkraftverdopplung. Ein Bitcoin kauft morgen zwei Pizzen statt einer — Stückzahl bleibt gleich. Die 21-Millionen-Grenze gilt für Coins, nicht den Preis. Kaufkraft ist nicht Supply.
@GreatUncleRom@WallStreetMav I cant, they are so dumb holt shit. And i Live in germany. I rly hope i can migrate to the USA next year. Because thats so crazy.
@JHoneymood10773@gthfstcvbn@WhiteHouse Wrong, nothing would have changed if he had done the same as Obama or Biden and simply continued to supply Israel with weapons. Have you forgotten that Palestinians and Israelis die there every day? And he is trying to change something there. Anything is better than war and death
@oghowie@DeItaone No, on the contrary: The post and related reports indicate that Trump has reversed the previous cuts to Homeland Security and Counterterrorism funding for New York City and the State of New York. He has thereby restored 187 million US dollars that had been cut earlier
