PRESIDENT TINUBU: ADELEKE'S VICTORY, A FITTING ASSURANCE THAT DEMOCRACY WILL CONTINUE TO FLOURISH IN OUR COUNTRY
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu said the re-election of Governor Ademola Adeleke in the just-concluded Osun election is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our country under the All Progressives Congress administration.
"I called Governor Ademola Adeleke earlier today to congratulate him on his election victory in Osun State. His victory once again confirmed the confidence the people of Osun State have in him.
"I wish him great success as he prepares to lead the state for the next four years. Now that he has won, Governor Adeleke must unite the people of Osun State and rally them for growth, stability, and social and economic progress, regardless of the political choices they made at the election.
"I salute the courage and discipline displayed by other contestants in the election. Their participation deepened and enriched our country's democratic culture. The outcome of the election reflects the will of the people and is a fitting assurance that democracy will continue to flourish in our land."
President Tinubu commended the Independent National Electoral Commission and the security agencies for conducting a peaceful and transparent election that produced a clear winner.

Morning Muse On MTNN's 25G Pittance
MTNN is celebrating its 25th anniversary and all they are offering Nigerians is a miserable 25G that would expire before midnight as well as 25mins on the first call for the day.
For me, this is pittance, crumbs to reward a loyalty that has spanned for half of a Silver Jubilee. Nigerians deserve better ways to be compensated for their commitment, endurance and tolerance.
MTNN should consider to allow the 25 data survive for as long as the user decides if truly it is a gift. I also believe Nigerians will appreciate it more if that voice ''You have less than one minute....'' is discontinued and replaced with two beeps.
Above all, I think MTNN should have planned a bumper anniversary that would capture a mega expression of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Nigerians deserve more than 25G that would not last for more than 24 hours.
Finally, I don't consider this 25G as a genuine gift. I think it only serves to whet our data appetite and/or mask the merciless voracity with which MTNN intends to drain the life out of our pockets.
Announcing the 28th Wole Soyinka Lecture
The 28th Wole Soyinka Lecture Series, featuring the NAS Martyr’s Day, reflects on Nigeria’s long struggle for democracy and the civic sacrifices that shaped its political evolution. This year’s theme – “Reclaiming the Nigerian State through Accountability, Justice and Civic Courage” – addresses the urgent need to confront decades of impunity, weakened institutions, insecurity, and eroded public trust in governance.
The lecture revisits the legacy of Nigeria’s “democracy martyrs,”including the dark era of military repression in Port Harcourt, and reaffirms the responsibility of citizens and leaders to uphold accountability, justice, and civic courage.
With contributions from distinguished speakers, democracy advocates, and thought leaders, the 28th WSLS serves as a platform for dialogue, reflection, and collective action – strengthening civic oversight beyond the ballot box and advancing Nigeria’s democratic renewal.
This year’s lecture features contributions from distinguished voices including Chief Osita Chidoka, OFR, Prof Obari Gomba, Gbene Joi Nunieh, Esq., Hilda Dokubo, and Rt. Hon. Uche Onyeagwucha, Lady Stella Fubara, and Demola Sam-Adeoye.
This year’s edition will be enriched by the presence of eminent personalities, including, His Excellency Sir Siminalayi Fubara, the Executive Governor of Rivers State, and Professor Wole Soyinka, GCON (Nobel Laureate).
This reminds me of a similar incident in Asaba during a fire outbreak in the Ogbeogonogo Market. While rescue operations were ongoing by the Fire Service Department, the police had a harder time preventing supposed sympathizers from looting shops.
I have also cringed at accident scenes where people rush to rob accident victims. It is truly sad and I agree with you, ''We are a bad people''

The Legislature, including the Senate and the House of Representatives, is the bastion of our democracy. While it can serve as a melting pot of our cultural heritage, that is not its utmost business.
Sen Ningi should, in representing his people, do so without offending the sensibilities of other Nigerians who also have a right to representation.
More so, the Senate is not a centre for the exhibition of war relics. All members must appear in the hallowed chambers stripped of all inflamed tendencies.
Will Sen Ningi be comfortable if a ministerial candidate appeared before the House donned with a spear? How will he react to a man standing close to him with a spear inside a mall? Surely, he will express his disapproval or take caution.
Going forward, the joint leadership of the National Assembly should consider, if it has not, establishing clear ‘’dressing rules’’ for its members.
@davido rocking a customised jacket with the names of the abducted schoolchildren to perform on a World Cup stage is genius. It is a creative and potent way of deploying advocacy through fashion to send a message that insecurity in Nigeria has reached frenzied heights.
Yet we expect you, as one of Nigeria’s biggest hip-hop sensations, to send a stronger message through your music. OBO, as we fondly call you, should begin to challenge degradations rather than vain glorifications and licentiousness, which have dominated your decade-old career. This is not to undermine the beautiful love tunes you have given to us.
You are still young, and you still have the stage. Other Nigerian artistes should also toe this path; let us see if we can heal our society through music, as was done by legends who were here before us.
Peace.

'Dear SERAP, such initiatives are highly commended and appreciated. However, we plead that those of us who are far from the Centre of Excellence should have equal opportunity in our geopolitical zones. I am certain that Delta State will just fine when you consider the South-south geopolitical zone.

@Morris_Monye While not undermining the value of experience, limiting its acquisition to ''working in a big company'' is insensitive to certain realities. Most entrepreneurs, if they had the chance to work in a ''big company'' in the first place, would not become entrepreneurs at all.
