Rathbone was one of finest fencing actors in Hollywood, if not THE best. He studied fencing when he was younger and, during his military service during World War I, TWICE won the British Army fencing championship.

During the making of Captain Blood (what would prove to be his "breakthrough" movie), Errol Flynn was suffering from a bout of malaria. He is said to have even collapsed on set at one point.

While all but impossible to imagine (given the healthy level of confidence he's known for!), the actor also suffered from a great deal of nervousness when filming first began. In true Flynn style, though, he found his groove and director Michael Curtiz went back and reshot his early scenes.
