Net 3823 in one week?? Where all these people suddenly coming from?? These are all college students who can’t even vote in the state because they don’t have a physical address, or random people NGO’s are approaching in Walmart parking lots and asking ‘hey do you me to register you to vote?’

After the midterms and in the next few months, MANY of these ‘new voters’ are going to be purged from the system for various inaccuracies.

Earlier this year, Republicans took the lead in NC voter registration (overall, not just active) for the first time in history. They got it up to almost +11,000 at its high point.

Now, thanks to the run-up in midterms, they’ve given it back by an eyelash here at the close of voter registration. But - specificity matters. Just as I can clearly show Dem gains in PA are clustered to urban areas only, it’s the same in NC. The net gain for Dems last week was over 3,000 statewide (to erase the last of the GOP lead).

Yet, as I profile NC-11, the only made up 153 net in that district; therefore, the Dem gains in NC are just like those in PA - driven by urban registration drives in Charlotte, Durham, and Raleigh, with little to harvest up anywhere else.

That means there is no legitimate left-wing comeback in NC and their gains are limited to the concrete.
