When you’ve sucked the value out of everything, destroyed peoples’ future, given the country over to disaster capitalists, driven millions into poverty, taken the country out of the most successful trading bloc in history and everything you have anything to do with turns into a total disaster, you need a massive distraction, so you invent one.
You spin that perfectly legal asylum seekers are illegal. You fail to process them in a timely and proper fashion and allow a huge backlog to build up. You deliberately turn a perfectly manageable problem into a disaster. You create misery and horror on an epic scale. Thousands suffer unnecessarily, but you just don’t care as long as it distracts peoples’ attention away from the catastrophe you’ve created.
I give you…our Conservative government.
