@PieterLValk I'm an overall EV enthusiast, but think Tesla is the best value for most city dwellers unless you only need a car for regional use. If you need 1 all-purpose vehicle & its an EV, Tesla is it IMO. Model 3 is super capable. Feel free to reach out if you have specific Qs.

@PieterLValk Hey Pieter, we’ve had a rear wheel Model 3 here in CO since 2018. 68k miles, use it for daily and long distance trips to KS, MN, CA, etc. Love it & definitely recommend. Tesla’s Supercharger network is a key factor if you travel long distances at all.

Take 1 ICE SUV

Add $2,500 of batteries (for a whopping 21 miles of electric range)

Get a $7,500 subsidy

(Meanwhile a true EV SUV with 15x the range and more cargo capacity doesn’t qualify because it’s not “SUV enough”)

@Epicurus_cwm @T_Rich1863 @jlkurtz Ppl didnt become interested in Musk cuz he amassed wealth. Its because Tesla and SpaceX became such improbable successes in industries that are nearly impossible to break into. If ppl were more informed on those stories, their view would be more complex.

@Epicurus_cwm @T_Rich1863 @jlkurtz I'll bite. If ur genuinely curious, I read Ashley Vance's book on Musk. Very informative on Musk, Tesla, SpaceX, and his role in their success. I still follow Tesla as a company. Ppl can hate Musk, but the takes that he's just a rich fraud are really ignorant.

@adampaulcooper Also, initially I read "self driving vehicles" but now understand u likely distinguish between cars and other higher density vehicles. I more generally support self-driving vehicles and agree that self driving cars are not going to be a panacea for all transportation problems.

@adampaulcooper Agree abt public transit on env and planning if used. less convinced society will ever buy into the current options for public transit. Need reliable and convenient combo of hi density (bus/train) regional and last mile options. I think self driving cars have a place in that.
