@JRbroadcaster@dc_broadcasting Goodness gracious. We talk constantly about teenagers as children ... still developing, vulnerable, deserving of protection, etc ... Then "we" fire a 29-year-old for what he said at 15? Keeping him on and letting him speak to how he grew would’ve sent a far more powerful message.
When this sermon went viral years ago, one of my CLOSEST, white evangelical friends told me, “Dewey, this sermon was pathetic!” After MUCH debate, we agreed to disagree! THIS morning, he sent me this clip & said, “Dewey, I was wrong, Dr. Jeremiah Wright was prophetic!”. I’m still chuckling! Please KNOW that you can both love AND criticize America simultaneously!
@FriarPodcast It's really come down to defense all season long. Based on the the on-court observations and lack of improvement as the season's progressed, it's hard not to conclude that it isn't being emphasized and coached effectively. Providence fans are accustomed to tough, gritty teams.
🚨Pete Buttigieg just gave the most powerful warning yet about how we confront political violence in America:
“Yes, we have to reject those who commit political violence. Yes, we have to reject those who celebrate or promote political violence.
But also, in order to deprive political violence of its power, we have to reject anyone who would try to exploit political violence.
…An overwhelming majority of Americans left, right, and center believe that the government should not be cracking down on its political opponents because they are political opponents.
Not in the United States of America. Not ever.”
I am starting to have concerns now having seen the reaction of the right to the murder of Charlie Kirk.
I have to tell you that something feels very off. I’m going to hold off on sharing my thoughts because I’m starting to feel like I’m losing my mind for thinking what I’m thinking, but something doesn’t add up.
On the matter of political violence. It is not defined as a physical act. Words can be political violence too and Charlie Kirk engaged in it over and over. So let’s not forget that when right wing talking heads throw around their baseless accusations.

@FantasyProsMLB@JoePisapia17@IsItTheWelsh Hi, there! The FantasyPros lineup tool continually suggests starting Jackson Holliday vs. LHP, who either struggles or sits in these situations, over Mookie Betts. Any idea why the tool is failing in this particular context?
@EdKrassen In the counseling and mental/behavioral health profession, research has shown that the most significant variable contributing to effective change is the relationship/rapport between the client and the practitioner. The human connection.
@antwanstaley@cds1029 If someone goes from calling a player bad, to decent, to good ... and that player is a 26-year-old QB, I'd argue that their trending towards becoming elite. Or, in other words, the Dree Brees trajectory. If you think player talent is static, you're shopping in Montana, too.
@fried_friar Speaking as a MHP, the responder would have planned differently: Not alone, prepared for potential aggression, and a plan for exit (to avoid getting cornered). For some community members, likely due to trauma, the sight of an officer contributes negatively.
@fried_friar Some communities now have MHP respond alongside cops. They specialize in de-escalating crises w/o violence. Imagine calling for help because a loved one is suicidal, only to have them shot b/c they were yeilding a knife. This fear is why many people avoid involving the police.
@fried_friar It's heartbreaking when a wellness check turns into a fatal incident, highlighting a system failure. A trained mental health professional could have made a difference. We must advocate for better crisis intervention models and honor lives, not make light of tragic circumstances.
@mikel_maria Vegan for 12+ years here. To my community: I understand the initial conflict of caring for a cat. While we’re priv. to make ethical decisions about our diets, cat friends cannot. I take solace in saving chipmunk and bird lives daily by keeping Sasha on a harness during walks. 😆
@cliftonduncan The best shelters have "bios" describing each cat's temperament and preferences. Choose a "personality" that matches your lifestyle! I have a "solo cat" (i.e. won't tolerate other cats) who I take on walks 2x a day and meets me as soon as I get up/come home. High maintenance. 🤣
