Here comes the ☀️: orangespotted sunfish is part of the Lepomis genus of fish (“sunfish”), a group including familiar faces like bluegill - these fishes are sometimes called “bream” or if you want to really annoy a fish biologist, “perch” #25DaysofFishmas https://t.co/pF0krRdesU
🐟 One of the most common questions I got on this post was how the emissions of fish compare? Are they lower-carbon than chicken?
Depends on the fish. Here is the data 👇

MONSTER FISH 🎃 SAUGER:
Sauger are fish with eyes that give off an eerie glow due to tapetum lucidum, a reflective layer on their retinas. This helps them feed at night in low light.
We’re hoping that if we rate this fish highly, it won’t haunt us forever. 10/10.
MONSTER FISH 💀 BOWFIN:
Bowfin sport a round tail fin with a black eye spot on the upper base of the tail. With a mouth lined with sharp teeth, these fish will prey on anything that fits into their mouths.
12/10. Not a picky eater. Probably prefers pineapple *on* pizza. 🍕

Squid babies I imaged at @MBLScience in Woods Hole, MA.
They just hatched, are about 2mm long, and can already change color!
So cute! I was so thrilled I was showing this video to random strangers! Reactions varied 😅

In South Korea 🇰🇷, the solar panels in the middle of the highway have a bicycle path underneath - cyclists are protected from the sun, isolated from traffic, and the country can produce clean energy.
Here's how @MaryPeltola won Alaska's instant runoff special general election.
Since no one had a majority, voters who supported the 3rd place finisher (Begich) had their 2nd preference counted.
It works just like a regular runoff - except instantly!

Was amazing to see hundreds of baby eels (Anguilla anguilla) wriggling their way up the rocks of Cenarth falls on their 4,000 mile migration all the way from the Sargasso Sea to freshwater lakes, rivers and ponds in the UK.
