Here is a recap of the Ukraine situation, for those choosing to reject propaganda and continue seeking truth:
December 1994, Ukraine agrees to give up its nuclear arsenal in return for security guarantees from the US, UK, France, China and Russia.
February 2014, Russia invades and subsequently annexes Crimea, President Obama does next to nothing. War through weakness.
July 2019, Trump admin withholds $250 million in military aid to Ukraine to apply pressure to investigate alleged corruption by Hunter and Joe Biden.
February 2022, Russia invades a weakened Ukraine, world expects Zelenskyy to flee and Kyiv to fall within days. Ukrainians fight bravely for 3+ years, inflict hundreds of thousands of casualties on Russian army, weaken Putin politically.
U.S. has sent ~$70 billion in outdated military equipment to Ukraine since start of war, providing opportunity for U.S. military to modernize its weaponry. We’ve sent an additional $30+ billion in budget support, $75 billion in ancillary appropriations related to war.
~50,000 Ukrainians have died defending their homeland, protecting U.S. and Western interests in the process. Meanwhile, the U.S. President and V.P. are calling democratically-elected Zelenskyy a dictator and berating him in Oval Office in pursuit of a financial payoff.
The U.S. should be thanking Ukrainians, who have fought for our common interests with only modest financial support from a country with a ~$30 trillion GDP.
America can and will reclaim its backbone again soon, with better policy and messaging from common sense moderates.
Slava Ukraina.
Doctors Without Borders denounces in the strongest possible terms the killing of our colleague in #Gaza
This is our 8th colleague killed in #Gaza and the second in two weeks.
Today, I learned the terrible news. Our colleague, journalist Victoria Roshchyna, died in Russian captivity.
I have a question. What did they do with her? What could have been done to a young girl to make her die? I call on all journalistic organizations from different countries to officially demand an answer from Russia.
Vika, you were so brave. I'm so sorry we didn't free you on time…

Dear 🇬🇧,
Last week @Jeremy_Hunt crossed a big red line and it was a news story that I fear was missed by a lot of people.
Since the start of all NHS strikes from nurses, doctors, ambulance staff, therapy teams, HCAs, radiographers, and others, we have all insisted that @Jeremy_Hunt find NEW money for #PayRestoration.
The ongoing NHS staff haemorrhage is a direct consequence of NHS pay collapsing by up to 35% for some of us and restoring that pay is the smartest policy fix that any govt can do OVERNIGHT to fix this staff crisis.
We urgently need trained staff to stay in the NHS and it’s just plain stupid for British taxpayers to pay to train NHS staff only for us to be unable to pay our bills and loan payments and then be forced out of the country to work aboard in Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, and Canada.
And our insistence that this money for pay restoration come from other sources — preferably from taxing the most well off (people like @Jeremy_Hunt and @RishiSunak) and most certainly not from existing NHS budgets — makes a lot of sense.
After the @Conservatives decade long assault on the NHS that stole up to £400 BILLION from NHS patient care in the last decade, it would add insult to injury to take even more money from existing NHS budgets that are earmarked for patients.
So what did @Jeremy_Hunt do? He just decided to just raid the NHS capital budget instead!
That budget already has an urgent, and I mean urgent, repair backlog of over £10B. That same RAAC concrete that’s in our schools is also in our hospitals and is causing structural collapse on patient wards. Hospitals are shutting down entire wings and productivity is falling dramatically because this govt continues to starve the health service of funding in a militant move to push more people into the private sector at the expense of the NHS.
This is not okay and we must not tolerate this ongoing vandalism of our public services from those in govt who are supposed to be protecting us.
So please share this and help to send a message to Mr Hunt and Mr Sunak that they must stop cutting the NHS budget, stop harming patients, stop harming staff, and start investing in the health of this country.

Having demobbed, he was appointed as the Director of the Social Medicine Unit - a precursor to Public Health England. 🧵
