@marceelias This is the Project 2025 of the next GOP leadership btw. The thing they’re going to insist is false and they would never do, and then almost certainly dismantle when given more power. Don’t sleep on it. They’re starting now with the trad wives.
@Mashimaro77@thankyoudance@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite Again, personal experience here. The Chinatown in Houston is thriving and there is a Japanese Garden across the street from the science museum, and a Korean cultural center near that too… kind of a xenophobic moron at this point aren’t you? Bye.
@zeelee3D@SergeantSolo@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite So far my grasp of this conversation has been someone accusing me of not understanding diversity as a Texan, multiple people telling me, a POC woman, what I did and did not experience, and one person whose beliefs align with that of America 70 years ago. Have a good day, man.
@zeelee3D@SergeantSolo@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite Let me be clear. I’m not a loud dumb American trying to Kool-aid man my way into every quiet snack bar to get “the full Japanese experience.” But if you are a restaurant in Teramachi (where I have been) in one of the most famous cities in the world, you need to serve tourists.
@zeelee3D@SergeantSolo@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite Because it is the white and brown people. You see any Chinese or Korean on that sign? It’s not non-Japanese people they’re mainly hoping to keep out, it’s non-Asians
@zeelee3D@SergeantSolo@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite You’re working very hard to defend something that is textbook discrimination. For whatever reason they have, they are a business probably not legally allowed to do this, and there are many other industries they can peruse if they don’t want to interact with white and brown people
@SergeantSolo@zeelee3D@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite don’t, discriminate, eventually get avoided by every tourist, and then fail. Move your restaurant away from the city center if you don’t want to deal with it, or again, hire bilingual workers. If you’re in Teramachi you can afford it
@SergeantSolo@zeelee3D@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite Exactly, & this guys is repeating talking points from Jim Crow looool.
Japan is homogeneous, but it takes in millions of tourists every year & is also a nation in rapid population decline & shrinking rural towns. Time for old Japanese people to get comfortable with English, or+
@G0ATQi@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite The problem with these signs is that many compromises exist, but instead of doing that they jump straight to discrimination. In this case it’s laziness, they knew putting this sign up would be considered rude but did it anyways. It’s 2026 and they need to adjust or retire.
@G0ATQi@Lapillus22@UnseenJapanSite Yes but the people in your example are tourists, not business owners discriminating against customers based on appearance. Yes communicating in English is hard, but then maybe don’t open a restaurant in an area overrun with tourists. Or hire an English-speaking worker.
@qewirze My uncle at one point met her and just started calling her Maria bc she’s Hispanic. We were all so mad at him that we all collectively gave her a 30% raise, so that he was forced to too. She makes more than me a day now lol, and my uncle remains shamed
@peachupairfan@the_moral_abc To answer your question tho, it’s bad because clothes hold in things that fall off our bodies like pubic hair, scabs, sweat, blood, etc until we go home and take them off. Working in a bikini means all of these things are more likely to make it into the food they’re handling.
