Toronto charity director Vashti Anderson has had traffic tickets withdrawn after obtaining evidence she says proved she stopped at a stop sign.

According to reporting by Jon Woodward of CTV News, Anderson was stopped by Toronto PC Upinder Singh on April 6th, 2025 near Avon Drive and Eglinton Ave. W.

She received tickets for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign and failing to produce her driver’s licence. An insurance ticket was later rescinded.

Rather than paying the fines, Anderson obtained surveillance video from a nearby church, Toronto Police in-car camera footage, body-worn camera video and the officer’s notebook through Freedom of Information requests.

The videos appeared to show her vehicle stopping at the stop sign. Meaning the officer falsified notes.

The body camera also captured the officer saying, “You’re already getting a ticket, no matter what,” followed by, “I’m going to get you all the tickets.”

The officer’s notebook reportedly described Anderson as a “female belligerent.” After the evidence was reviewed, the remaining traffic charges were withdrawn.

Her complaint to Ontario’s Law Enforcement Complaints Agency can now proceed.

If the evidence ultimately establishes that a police officer deliberately falsified notes or knowingly made false allegations to justify charges, my view is simple: that officer should have no place in policing. Fuck them!

The justice system depends on the integrity of police evidence.

Once an officer is found to have intentionally fabricated notes or evidence, public trust is fundamentally broken, and dismissal should be the expected outcome.
