@eNCA In a country wealthy enough to generate R2-trillion in revenue collection, the middle-class should not be burdened with paying for private schools, healthcare, security & amenities. Governance must be strengthened and accountability be paired with proper consequence management.
@Itumelanin Part of our work is advocacy and the development of sound, evidence-based policy proposals to government to address these issues. We call on professionals and SMEs to join our movement to create a South Africa that delivers prosperity to all citizens.
[WATCH] WHOAH, Bahlali!!! 😳
Remember our campaign to fix municipal funding?
Well, this morning, Prof Jantjies, of the Parliamentary Budget Office told Parliament that they need to fix how the budget is allocated (by correcting the Division of Revenue to increase the equitable share allocated to municipalities).
We have been saying this for months and today he told them that the 1998 assumptions and formula for allocating funding to municipalities is woefully out of touch with reality. This affects us all.
And so even if you can fix all the governance challenges that we all identify in municipalities if you do not fix the funding of local government the problems are not gonna go away and this will have an impact as it does on economic growth and unemployment.
We are getting closer to changing the future of local government. 😍🕺🏾🇿🇦

The @CityofJoburgZA is living DAY ZERO.
Why? Underinvestment, poor maintenance, weak planning + no accountability.
The people are speaking up in Melville / Westdene / Parktown West / Emmarentia.
Declare a disaster.

WATER CRISIS IN THE CITY OF JOHANNESBURG – A NATIONAL DISASTER
https://t.co/8sDOSPyYRg
Water is a constitutional right. The continued failure to secure reliable access undermines public trust and erodes confidence in government at all levels.
Professionals are people. People make up businesses. We cannot distance ourselves from the challenges, nor insulate ourselves from the disruptions. We must collectively take action and demand accountability from city management. #WaterJusticeNow
Water is a human right.
When supply is disrupted, it affects every aspect of our livelihoods from health and hygiene to productivity and prosperity.
We cannot afford to wait until the taps run dry. We demand practical and sustainable action now!
#WaterJusticeNow

We joke about “Cyril’s economy” but in a country where over 1000 children die from acute malnutrition, with approximately 63% households reported as food insecure, the cost of living crisis is a literal matter of life and death.
Let’s convene and converse on ways forward…
We are at the #JoburgCrisisSummit with the @AhmedKathradaF and other key stakeholders. All are calling for a transparent and robust recruitment effort for City Manager and key portfolios. #ChangeLeadership
The conversation that should have been.
So glad I attended, great minds, provocative thinking indeed and forward steering.
From this to more below 40 y/o in parliament there's hope and future for SA #ThePBCProvocation@pbforchange@VuyiswaRamokgop@NobuntuSA
Last night’s Provocation, hosted by Professionals and Business for Change @pbforchange and anchored by @tebogomoalusi_ was incredible. Young professionals and entrepreneurs provoking a conversation about their role in changing South Africa - and being at the forefront of that change.
It was great to be able to share what has been the most significant insight from me, having led as a professional and entrepreneur coming into parliament and political leadership.
For me it’s this: many of our systems are designed more to control than to deliver. True transformation will need systemic reform, and that requires ethical, competent leadership across every sector - business, civil society, institutions, and yes, even politics.
I found @vuyiswar_ reminder incredibly powerful:
the biggest liberation movement in our country was started by professionals, religious leaders and civil society standing at the forefront of change.
The brilliance in the room was electric; for me, rallying call of my own provocation: nobody’s coming to save us but us.
