Many in the West still don’t realize that Poles were victims, not collaborators, during World War II. Historian Magnus Brechtken confirms that Polish collaboration with the Germans was only 0.1%, yet the myth persists.

While most people have heard of the “Final Solution” against the Jews, few know about General Plan Ost, the Nazi German blueprint for the extermination, enslavement, and displacement of the Polish people. Hitler and Himmler made it clear: “All Poles will disappear from the world.” It was a planned, prolonged genocide.

Poland was the first nation invaded, by both Germany and the Soviet Union in September 1939. Together, they tried to destroy Polish identity - through mass deportations, executions of elites, ordinary citizens, and the suppression of culture and faith. Poles were even murdered at a higher rate than Jews in the war’s early years.

And when the Holocaust began, Poles were often the first to warn the world, heroes like Jan Karski, Witold Pilecki, and many others. Helping Jews meant a death sentence, yet thousands still did. The Polish resistance group Żegota alone saved tens of thousands.

This history matters. Poland was not complicit in genocide. It was targeted for one. General Plan Ost is proof and it deserves to be remembered.

This is an older video, but I believe it’s essential to share it so that more people can understand this important and often overlooked part of history.
