The biggest mistake you can make as a coach is giving athletes what you gave yourself. Running well yourself doesn't necessarily mean you can help others. Improvement and responses to training are individual. It can take a great deal of time to fully find those wings.

I get the decision by @parkrun to scrap many records or stats. Their number 1 objective is to be a community event, not a competitive one. If you are really worried about the decision go and find an actual race. There are quite a few around.
