This sweet girl came into Palm Valley Animal Society caring for her 5 puppies while quietly suffering in obvious pain. She did everything she could to nurture and protect them despite a badly fractured right front radius & ulna, plus multiple metallic BBs embedded in both front legs. 🦴💔

Now that her babies are old enough and have begun their own journeys, it’s finally Ritz’s turn.

She has remained gentle and resilient through it all. She is currently on pain medication and has been cleared for immediate medical release.

Ritz urgently needs a rescue or compassionate foster who can give her the quiet, loving environment she needs to recover and finally live without pain. 🙏

💔 Teddy is still waiting for someone to save him, but his time is running out.

There were hopes for a plan, but it fell through. Now this sweet boy has no adoption or foster interest and only hours remain.

Teddy is as gentle as they come. He loves affection, softly resting his head in a person's hand while looking up with those soulful eyes, hoping for love. 🥺 He already knows how to sit, especially for treats, and takes them with the gentlest manners.

Like many shepherds, Teddy is struggling in the shelter environment. A foster home or forever family could completely change his future and allow his loving personality to shine.

🚨 FIVE YEARS OF SECOND CHANCES 🚨

Five years ago, I made a promise to animals that had been abandoned, abused, neglected, forgotten, and discarded.

I promised them they would never have to wonder if they were safe again.

I promised them that someone would fight for them.

For five years, we have kept that promise.

Together, we have rescued countless animals, built a sanctuary from raw land, weathered floods, freezes, medical emergencies, and heartbreak, and continued showing up every single day for the animals who call Layla’s Heart Ranch & Rescue home.

Today, I am asking for your help.

The truth is that animal rescues across the country are struggling. Donations are down. Expenses continue to rise. Many rescues are being forced to close their doors.

I don’t want Layla’s Heart Ranch & Rescue to become one of them.

In the last week alone, we faced more than $5,000 in unexpected veterinary expenses.

King required emergency surgery that cost $1,700.

Then Picante underwent surgery to remove two masses. One was a fatty growth, but the other was described by our veterinarian as one of the nastiest masses they had seen. We are now waiting for biopsy results and praying for good news.

Picante’s surgery and diagnostics cost more than $3,500.

Like we always do, we said yes.

Because when one of our animals needs help, there is never a question.

We choose treatment.

We choose to fight for them.

We choose them.

Every single time.

But after Picante’s surgery, our account was left with only a few hundred dollars.

The animals don’t know donations are down.

They don’t know veterinary bills are piling up.

They don’t know rescues everywhere are struggling.

They only know that this is home.

They only know they are loved.

And I will fight with everything I have to keep it that way.

As we approach our 5-year anniversary on July 5th, we are launching the biggest fundraiser in our history:

This isn’t about one emergency.

We’re thinking she is a Lab mix, however Luna🐾🐾 is a little tall and lanky. She is slightly underweight but no worries she is getting all the goodies she deserves and needs.

Luna🐾🐾 is super friendly and is great on or off leash. She loves her outdoor potty and play time. There has been no issues with other pups or kitties.
