There are so many things to unpack from this story, but firstly, I would like to say thank you to you, Bayuz, for being an instrument of hope and a channel of blessing to people like Samuel and his family.

Secondly, as Christians, we are once again reminded that God exists and he is a rewarder of those who diligently seek his face. God answers prayers; though it may tarry, it will surely come to pass. We may be tried and tested by the burdens of life, but God will always come through at the right time.

The third part is that there is intense poverty in Nigeria. I know we like to pretend that we are rich, but the truth is that more than half of the nation's population is living in squalor. Unfortunately, in the face of abject poverty, honesty and integrity fails. Someone who is hungry, hopeless, and feels forsaken would be desperate to do anything to get a better life. This explains why crime is on the rise and uncontrollable. Not so many people have self-control and are virtuous like Samuel and his family.

In working systems: where people earn a livable wage, Samuel shouldn't be saddled with the burden of fending for his family. The boy has carried an unbearable weight for over 6 years, and without meeting Bayuz, he would have continued living a wasted life, just like many children of his age.

Our governments have failed us over the years, and it is a shame that we have not collectively held them accountable. They squander our commonwealth while we keep crowdfunding for people to have access to a decent life. Instead of speaking truth to power, we are divided along ethnic and religious lines, and we keep making excuses for useless politicians. The worst set of Nigerians are those who cannot be bothered by the state of the nation because they either feel self-sufficient or are benefitting from the rot!!!

Politicians have mortgaged the future of the unborn generations with reckless spending and ridiculous loans. No good roads, no quality education or healthcare delivery, no security. Inflation is on an all-time high, and people can barely feed. Yet, they live large and sponsor their children to study in the best schools abroad. The same children are now being positioned for political positions!!

I will say it for the umpteenth time: Nigeria is a ticking time bomb waiting to explode! We either fix our problems now, when we have the opportunity to do so, or we watch the country crumble. We have complained enough. We have been docile enough. We have made adjustments to accommodate hardship enough. It's time to take our country back!

Let's take our country back from marauders disguising as politicians!

Let's take our country back to secure our future!

Let's take it back even if it is by force!

Let's take it back before it is too late!!!
