Pls retweet! @SusansScience is leading an analysis of species at risk legislation in provinces/territories. If anyone is an expert in subnational SAR legislation, in prairies and territories in particular, we'd love to chat.
@ellycknight@NSERC_CRSNG I also turned down a PGS D in 2021 as we were starting our family and my term position with Canadian Wildlife Service paid 4x as much with no tuition. Thankfully I'm now permanent with CWS, but I wonder how my career will be different without a PhD...
Waited 15 minutes on a weekday morning on Pembina hwy without seeing a single bus go by. People won't use buses that aren't reliable and convenient. How will you fix this @ScottGillingham? #lateforthedentist
Running the @RainbowLors account and building a #QueerOrnithology space, I've been a little surprised by the trolling/pushback I've received just in the last few days, lots of "why does sexuality matter, just enjoy birds!"
Being queer does matter and a space is vital! A thread:
@janetngbio Good god. That is so frustrating. Everyone is so forgiving of my poor spelling! Even when I think I have identified all my privilege, here pops up another one. Thanks for sharing!
Students in an online class were told they had one of these 2 TAs. But behind the scenes, @EmilyKhazan, left, fulfilled TA duties for all 136 students. When student evaluations came in, though, guess which TA scored higher? #WomeninScience#womeninstem https://t.co/3zje5Fiq89
Bombarded with emails and calls about the conservation risk that the #ModerateLivelihood fishery poses. Spoiler: it doesnโt. I wrote this to shed some light on my assessment. Please share widely https://t.co/siXNO2rYj3 @angelharksen @APTN @mgoogoo @Kukukwes
At risk of patting ourselves @enicurus@gleeholzer too hard on the back, I am really proud of this work. It solves a mystery: why are migratory warblers colorful? Hint, multi-step evolutionary pathways starting with migration & molt. Check out the preprint https://t.co/ybJaJcNRl3
@PeterSoroye I know this isn't the point, but I would wager NSERCs are actually easier for white people to get... What with the layers of privilege and all!
Congrats man, you earned it!
@B1rdz_Lady I'm all for an open review process where everyone is just nice to each other. We all know that not every paper is the right fit for every journal. It's possible to reject a paper while nicely helping the authors revise and resubmit somewhere else. ๐
