The PDPC collects the necessary data to ensure that society is better prepared for major crises, such as a pandemic and flood- and climate-related threats.

One plan, one team, one budget, one implementation budget. African leaders and CDC agree on an Ebola action plan . Great to see @AfricaCDC@WHO@WHOAFRO@EC_HERA@DURABLE_EU https://t.co/azCIEtsoUz
"The day before WHO learned of the hantavirus outbreak, negotiators of the pandemic treaty failed to agree on how to equitably share critical pathogen samples, vaccines, and medicines between richer and poorer countries during future outbreak" https://t.co/Lme3Gs3sCC
We need to get ahead of this Ebola outbreak. The humanitarian community is fully mobilized – but the challenges are immense. Speed, funding, access and community trust will determine whether we contain this.
Ebola in DRC is far from under control. 741 suspected cases. Each of these need to be tested and interviewed to find who they were in contact with. One key metric for outbreak control is which % of contacts has been reached. That currently is around 25% https://t.co/7nB3cHsUKe
Impressive! Genome sequence of the virus causing the outbreak in DRC/Uganda shared. That will allow checking which types of assays can be used

Many people do not want to hear about preparedness. The interactions on this site are downright toxic. But for the few people that are here to just get some info: here is another example. Do you have to worry? Not really. Ebola is a problem in that specific region
A classic: colleagues on DRC mentioned that the ebola outbreak was not detected by the genexpert. As this is a bundibugyovirus, that indeed is the case. It shows how important is is to have local detection capacity
After having consulted the #DRC and #Uganda where the #Ebola disease caused by Bundibugyo virus is known to be currently occurring, I determine that the epidemic constitutes a public health emergency of international concern (PHEIC), as defined in the provisions of IHR.

The Ebola outbreak in DRC has some serious red flag warnings. See below. And very problematic: the most commonly used test platform in the region cannot pick up this strain. That is a big handicap.
Hanta virus outbreak: a storm of messages out here and offline. This is crazy. This is an ongoing outbreak investigation. Some restraint needed from all media @NOS@BNOFeed@Reuters@BBCWorld For info on the the outbreak, see updates @DrTedros@WHO@ECDC_EU@rivm@ErasmusMC
