Picture this;
You use the same password for your email, social media, and mobile banking. A website you signed up for gets breached.
Now imagine someone trying that same password on all your other accounts.
That's why password reuse is risky.
โ Use a unique password for every account.
โ Enable multi-factor authentication.
One leaked password shouldn't unlock your entire digital life.
Tuli ku ground! ๐ Fort Portal
We're in Fort Portal this week for a regional outreach clinic on data protection and privacy compliance.
Our activities are already underway, with the team conducting courtesy visits, compliance inspections, and stakeholder engagements across the city.
The outreach continues throughout the week as we engage more organisations and members of the public on their rights and responsibilities under the Data Protection and Privacy Act.
Whether you're a public institution, private organisation, or member of the public, we're here to answer your questions, share guidance, and support your data protection journey.
If you're in Fort Portal, keep an eye out for the team throughout the week.

Our National Director, @Birikujja will be among the panelists at the 1st Tanzania Annual Data Privacy Conference 2026 in Dar es Salaam.
The panel discussion, โOur Journey, Our Progress: Insights and Milestones in Privacy and Personal Data Protection in East Africa,โ will bring together regional leaders to reflect on the progress made, lessons learned, and the opportunities ahead for privacy and personal data protection across East Africa.
The conversation comes at a time when collaboration and shared learning remain essential in strengthening privacy and personal data protection in the region. #PersonalDataisPrivate #DataPrivacyUG
One password is good. Two or more layers of protection are better.
Enable Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) on your accounts to add an extra layer of security beyond your password.
Whether it's your email, social media, banking, or work accounts, MFA can help protect your personal information even if your password is compromised.
Take a few minutes today to turn it on.
A small step that can make a big difference. #PersonalDataisPrivate
Weโre proud to partner with @ugwildlife to roll out data protection, privacy and cybersecurity awareness for wardens and rangers across Ugandaโs national game parks.
From tourist registers and research permits to patrol GPS data and staff records, rangers handle sensitive personal data every day. These sessions will equip frontline teams with knowledge and tools to safeguard that data, prevent breaches, and build trust with visitors and surrounding communities.
As we work towards a Uganda where data protection and privacy are understood, practiced and observed by all, our team is currently delivering these awareness sessions across game parks in Northern and Western Uganda, helping strengthen responsible data handling in conservation efforts for generations to come. #PersonalDataisPrivate #DataPrivacyUG
We participated in a stakeholder validation meeting on the review of the Identification of Offenders Act, Cap. 127 organized by the @ULRCUg.
We provided guidance on key data protection and privacy considerations within the proposed legal framework, including the lawful processing of personal data for the investigation and detection of crime, data retention requirements for investigative purposes, the need for Data Protection Impact Assessments (DPIAs) when deploying emerging technologies and cross-border personal data transfer requirements, among others.
We thank the @ULRCUg for convening this engagement and for the opportunity to contribute to discussions aimed at strengthening Ugandaโs legal and regulatory framework.

Last week, we participated in a stakeholder engagement organised by the @lgrb_uganda, where we delivered a presentation on data protection and privacy compliance obligations applicable to operators in Uganda's gaming sector.
We discussed key requirements under the Data Protection and Privacy Act Cap. 97, including lawful processing of personal data, protection of data subject rights, implementation of appropriate security safeguards, and the importance of accountability in personal data handling.
We commend the @lgrb_uganda for convening this important engagement. #PersonalDataisPrivate
