Carney's plan to reduce dependence on the US is to double non-US exports. His timeline is ten years. Meanwhile 90.8% of Canadian hydrocarbon exports went to one buyer in 2025 and the pipeline to fix it hasn't broken ground. That's not a strategy for this trade war. It's a strategy for the next one.

@MarioNawfal Those are shares of US imports, not shares of US supply. Canadian power is 1-2% of US electricity use. Net gas imports run about 6 Bcf/d against 105+ produced here. Crude is the one real dependency, and Carney took it off the table himself on July 29.

Since 2010, Americans have bought 8.5 million plug-ins total. There are roughly 285 million vehicles on the road. That's 3%.
"Electrify everything" isn't a plan. It's a rounding error with a 30 year runway.
