You know what’s so fucking heartbreaking about this? Is this scene is a lived reality for so many people in the UK & around the world & it’s terrifying. And people like JK Rowling are the cause and should never be forgiven as long as they live.
Seriously at that point why still call it Carrie. Why call it The Haunting Of Hill House. Being inspired by something or “reimagining something” is cool but it gets to a point where you’re doing both yourself & the original work a disservice by pretending it’s an adaptation
I was ready to hear Flanagan out but I opened the article and saw that we're completely erasing the troubles in the relationship between Carrie and her mother and also taking away the religious fanaticism. And that's taking away the core imo.
First details on Mike Flanagan's ‘CARRIE’ series:
• Set in modern day - explores teens relationship with tech
• Will introduce various other characters with their own abilities in each episode
• Will change a lot of the book's key moments - including the events of the prom being different
• Releasing this Fall on Prime Video

no disrespect to this actress but how many CARRIE adaptations is it going to take for them to stop casting conventionally attractive actresses when she’s meant to be chubby and acne ridden which is actually very important to the plot
Carrie adaptations will never have a fat actress cause producers/directors are convinced that people won’t sympathize with a fat female character so viewership will drop and considering our current rejection of body positivity and our celebs becoming skeletal it’s unsurprising.
if you have no intention of adapting Carrie with any form of care for the source material, stop doing it.
write smth new about a girl with telekinesis or powers that gets bullied, it doesn’t need to be “Carrie”
incredibile come nonostante i numerosi adattamenti nessuno abbia ancora mai avuto il coraggio di rappresentare fisicamente carrie esattamente come viene descritta nel libro
the success of heated rivalry should have indicated that we actually just want more queer stories and it wasn’t really about the hockey but it seems like maybe that wasn’t clear
