Seated at 7:01. It's 8:20 and still no food. No explanation other than "they're still working on it" and "we're short staffed." Tables around us that ordered at the same time are done, even the table of ten. What's up, @Pluckers ??? This isn't like you at all.
The Texas Quote of the Day:
"It's been a pretty good song. It was written in five minutes about a hot day in Austin, Texas with a margarita and a beautiful woman. I finished it in Key West. I had no idea."
----- Jimmy Buffett, who passed away yesterday, talks about how he wrote the most valuable song in history, "Margaritaville," one afternoon in 1976 after visiting a Mexican restaurant on Anderson Lane in Austin, Texas and then retreating to a friend's house in Northwest Hills. Buffett was touring at the time. When he landed back in Key West, he polished off the lead single to his 1977 album Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes, an unexpected hit for the largely unknown singer that peaked at No. 8 on Billboard charts and notched the 14th most popular song of the year.
I love this story. Not only is there a Texas connection but also there's the idea that, like so many other songwriters before him, Jimmy was struck by creative lightning and, unknowingly, released the song just at the moment the zeitgeist was ready for it. Other than the brief moments of inspiration, it was largely luck, a matter of so many things aligning in the cosmos. But it grew to the point that Jimmy's Margaritaville Holdings was employing 5,000 people.

1/ July will go down as the hottest in Austin’s recorded history (125 years of record keeping.) It will also go down as one of our driest on record. It holds our longest 105°+ streak in history... And somehow, August is looking worse.
Really looking forward to 106 on Sunday!! That refreshing cooldown gives way to our hottest temps yet by the middle of next week.
Not only will the air be spicy, but it'll be crunchy too. Saharan dust arrives tomorrow & thickens up next week #atxwx#txwx
The number of finger joints on each hand (excluding the thumb) makes it possible to count to 12 by using the thumb. Egyptians and Babylonians were fond of counting in base twelve like this and this is why we have 24 hours in a day & 60 minutes in an hour https://t.co/zIZ5sMw9OY
Can we transition our focus from future moments to the present moment and enjoy right now?
Instead of focusing on the end product, focusing on the process?
Where and when do you find time flying ? What are the breadcrumbs that you should follow more often?

If trickle down economics actually worked we’d see an ever increasing middle class with thriving wages. Instead we have a shrinking middle class, starvation wages are the norm, and the top 1% now owns more wealth than the bottom 90% combined.
What people look for in a partner:
- physical appearance
- a certain height
- a good job
- a close relationship with family
- a desire to have children
- shared personal beliefs (thought driven)
- same hobbies or interests
Deeper things to look for:
- how they react when things don't go their way
- how they treat people who can give them nothing in return
- how they navigate conflict
- shared values (behavior driven)
- *why* they want children
- if they've done inner work/healing
- the underlying dynamics they have with family
Relationships aren't fairy tales.
We've been conditioned to believe that relationships should be easy.
They aren't.
Any close relationship will challenge you, trigger you, and they will require you to have uncomfortable conversations on a consistent basis.
Fairy tales sounds good, because all of us have a younger part of ourselves that wants to be rescued from life as we know it. This isn't our partner's job.
The true appreciation, respect, and mutual growth comes from getting doing hard things together.
