Our love of science and data is generally worthy; I’m no Luddite. But in corrupt bureaucratic systems, from politics to sports, more rules and more technology often only provide more opportunities for corrupt manipulation.
The final stage of the technocracy is when they get you to deny what you can see with your own eyes. This is bigger than a sports game. This is a test to see what the general population will swallow. Turns out just about anything is possible. Dark times are coming.
These guys wouldn't dare play like a bitch and flop like a fish during the playoffs when everyone is watching because they had too much pride and respect. The current floppers have no shame.
This was my 'restarting my life at 34' playbook:
- Quit corporate job which was not offering a good enough ratio of pay : energy taken
- Quit alcohol and drugs completely
- Take inventory of accumulated life belongings and let go of things which no longer serve an active purpose
- Let go of relationships which are not in alignment with who I am now or where I want to go
- Significantly raise my standards in friendship and romantic relationships (this worked well because I also started holding myself to a higher standard)
- Reframe my relationship with discomfort; growth and opportunity lie beyond my comfort zone and what is familiar.
- Whenever I have needs that are not being fulfilled, take world-expanding actions (like meeting new people, going to new places, exploring new hobbies or activities etc)
- Exercise regularly (this quickly becomes addictive in its own right, which is largely a great thing)
- Cook regularly (it's such a powerful thing to be able to make delicious, healthy food where you know what's in it and that it will make you feel good)
- Post regularly (this makes me legible and attracts people who vibe with my energy, beliefs, and attitude)
- Use my focus and energy intentionally. I say yes to things I want to do and I say no to things I don't want to do (excepting for necessary evils, as they say)
- The most radical thing you can do to transform your life is create space for the things you want to attract and then act consistently in a way that brings you and them closer together. Talk is cheap and actions create your reality.
by far the most impactful mental health exercise for me is overcoming the hedonistic treadmill, and versions of it, and it's something that has to be practiced and reminded constantly
it's crazy how often we can accomplish amazing things, have an objectively good life, career, health, .... but still wake up thinking that we need something else to be happy or motivated.
I talk about this in my non-technical presentations, but I try to incorporate negative visualization in my life, and a "day 1" attitude with my career.
negative visualization === deliberately imagining losing what I value... people, health, possessions.. so that I appreciate them more deeply and reduce fear of loss.
day 1 attitude with my career === treating my current work like the opportunity I once dreamed of earning, so I stay grateful, curious, hungry, and unwilling to take it for granted.
In my first 4 minutes on the streets of Vancouver today, I was spat at by one man, and then attacked by this man pretending to be a woman.
My tripod is broken, my sunglasses are broken, I have a bump on my head and a scratch on my face, but my spirit is never broken.
I have another tripod in the car which I am retrieving right now, and I will be back on the street in a few minutes.
Right before this happened, he came up to my equipment with my back turned and turned off my recording. This video begins moments after as I call for him to come have a conversation.
He was only interested in violence. 6’4, 260, throwing punches. Not very ladylike.
Keep going guys. Be as violent as you want. It does nothing to me and only reveals to the world who you really are.
I will keep fighting for kids, with my words, and literally if need be.
There is no such thing as a transgender child!
They’re called girls and boys, and they’re perfect just as they are!
